Selling an item with zero quantity????

We have an item that was sold and shipped several days ago. The quantity is now zero.   Today someone bought the same item even though quantity is zero and we do not have it for sale. How does this happen?

Re: Selling an item with zero quantity????

The quantity is now zero...

Yes, but was the quantity zero after the first item sold?

Perhaps someone listed the original quantity as 2 instead of 1?

Easy to make typo...

Re: Selling an item with zero quantity????

@goldenstripcoins123  I have read several posts here where sellers were experiencing the same 'glitch'. I would contact ebay by chat or facebook and ask them to review your account to confirm the original quantity was One , you sold it, then they sold it again. Also that you will not receive a defect for being out of stock (they'll probably leave the defect on your account until it impacts your Seller Rating/Level).

I would message the buyer first and explain that ebay had a technical glitch that showed your item was still available, even though the quantity was zero, and that you have to cancel. Very Frustrating!

Re: Selling an item with zero quantity????

Welcome to my world in 2016-2018 when this happened on a regular basis when bulk relisting.  Somehow the software couldn't keep the 'sold' items with zero quantity separate from 'ended' items so when I would relist a couple hundred items at one time zero quantity listings would reappear.  Great, right?  Next thing you know you're selling stuff you could remember shipping out a few months prior.

That was a huge time suck thanks to poor software code.  I would cut and paste an explanation into an email offering to send the customer an equal item at my cost to avoid a defect and chock it up as a write off.  Most of the time the customers understood that it was ebay's fault and let it go.  I think my feedback speaks for itself as to how honest and straight forward I am in selling.

Re: Selling an item with zero quantity????

maybe someone was watching it when  there were more of them and then they bought it from a watched item list

if you have unsold items in your unsold list and you go to make a change /edit then its saved  as a new draft

if I go an make an edit and just abandon it its gets saved in my drafts

now I have 1 in the unsold list and a newer version in my drafts

if you write a bunch of new  listings and launch them then its easy to launch a draft for an item you do not have.
