Selling Question

Can I include a free thank you gift with my orders. I do not advertise in the listings.

I think the bottom line is that you cannot mention in the listing that you will include a free thank you gift (that makes it part of the listing).

So yes you can. Some will say thank you. Some won't.

And yes you can run into some numpties. I included five of something once on an order of 4. Got a very nasty communication that one was broken. Hello?

I think it is a nice gesture.

Selling Question

I'll never forget a post I read on the PS board when a seller posted about receiving a neutral from a buyer that was disappointed that their freebie wasn't as nice as ones they had received previously from them.  That was also back when a neutral was a defect.

Selling Question

I buy jewelry here a lot, and one of my fave sellers always sends an extra. Some I love, some I don't. But it truly is the thought that counts. She also boxes everything, uses cute tissue, and adds little touches like stickers, not just tape. It shows the care and love she has for what she does.

I also love getting business cards because I collect them, especially the arty ones.

Selling Question

Just not chocolate. I sent chocolate covered macadamia nut candy to customer and she complained that it had turned white from age and was not nice about it. The candy was new from Costco but I have found out that if it gets too cold it will turn white. It is usually not from being too old. So I eliminated that freebie.

Selling Question

Food is NEVER a good idea. The amount of food allergies out there is astounding. I mean in my house we would have to trash it as no one can eat it. In one of my friends houses, nuts would trigger a whole house scrub down. He child is silly allergic, and even being in the house would be a problem.

Indeed, food would be a very bad idea and would probably land a person negatives after a while.

To the OP - do keep in mind that if someone buys two pairs of your earrings and they happen to be for two young sisters, if you give them a free pair you may end up with angry parents. A lot of families are weird about that sort of stuff (from my experience working in retail).

Negs can happen if the buyer doesn't like, want, or need the free gift.

Also, they may not care to receive something they didn't order but have to pay shipping on it irregardless.

Just some thoughts.  No good deed goes unpunished.

99% of the time I include a gift with a purchase but after I read here a long time ago that some buyers may neg if they don't like, want, or need the gift, I started to worry.   Fortunately I've never received a neg for anything.   95% of the time I never get a thank you, and about 75% of the time I don't even receive feedback for the purchase.

However, I am of the mindset that no good deed goes unpunished.  It just hasn't stopped me from doing them, yet.

I agree...I have always added a little something and never got any complaints, quite the opposite and it doesn't add to the shipping cost either.  My free gifts are very light weight but useful too.

Oh right, I forgot to add ... I always round off my shipping so there's usually room to include something however, depending upon the purchase, I have absorbed the minor cost to pay the additional shipping.

Selling Question

The parent should realize the seller gave one gift per order.

I would never give candy as a gift. I wouldn't trust candy or a sample item to eat or use from a stranger.

@cat20sew

Thank you!  I have been told that.  People can get upset over things that really, in the scheme of things, aren't worth it.  Just take it with a grain of salt and get over it.

Sometimes you just need to chill and cut people some slack.

ESPECIALLY when someone is giving you a free gift; they are trying to do something nice for you!

But as it has been said, no good deed goes unpunished.

Hopefully you never experience that.

Selling Question

I sell earrings and the free gift are according to their order. If the order was a pair of dog earrings, I add bone charm earrings. Sometimes a cat pair of earrings to represent my profile name. So far buyers love the idea. As far as why I asked if it was OK is because I am concern if ebay considers the gift as a selling item.
