Selling Pokémon card

Hi. I’m selling a rare Pokémon card on behalf of my son, and I’ve had an offer come in from a buyer who has good reviews.  But as I’m quite new to selling and the item is quite expensive,  I’m concerned about being scammed.  Is there anything I should do or shouldn’t do, before I post the item to the buyer?

You are registered in the UK, so you might want to ask your questions on that site.

Sorry to tell you, however, that, if a buyer is determined to scam you, they will find a way.

Smart sellers here advise that no one ever list an item that they can't afford to lose.

"a buyer who has good reviews."

Since buyers can ONLY receive "good reviews," those feedback scores are actually no measure of whether the buyer is saint or sinner.

All buyers have "good reviews". Buyers can only receive good reviews.

What you should and shouldn't do?

As a new seller you shouldn't be selling an expensive item on ebay.

I don;t knw what your card is worth but i've been selling here for over 20 years

and i will not sell anything worth more than about $100.

Any buyer can scam you at any time by making a false claim.

There is nothing you can do to avoid it.

What you are trying to list is a high scam item.  I would hate to see you lose both the card and the money too.  Scammers look for new sellers like yourself.  Honestly, based on what I read here daily with scams being epidemic on Ebay, I would really reconsider and perhaps sell it elsewhere like an auction house or even locally.  Bottom line...I wouldn't do it.

Good luck.

Don't let a buyer lure you into texting with them. Just don't do it. It's the start of a scam. Don't let them tempt you to pay you extra to include a gift card in the purchase.

This is not a site for quick money also. If you haven't sold anything in a month expect 30+ days or more for the funds. Expensive and haven't sold something yet. I would read up on eBay selling. Always tracking on the item in the mail...no shortcuts ...written signature and not a digital signature. Probably would only do domestic...which means only in your country...Everything done by eBay on eBay...No outside emails or texts or phone calls.

You have no items listed, nor any ended items. How do you have an offer from a buyer? Makes no sense.

Just look up the same exact card, see what they actually sold for and list yours buy it now for that same price. Don't auction it, don't make a deal with a specific person, just list it for the price it sells for anyway and someone will buy it.

I have actually had very little trouble with expensive Pokemon cards, all the troubles comes from the people who view those $2 and $3 cards as some sort of investment and lose their mind when they are not Gem Mint PSA 10 condition.

List it sat the amount you want to sell it for.
