I have been a seller on eBay for almost 25 years. I have NO major issues and typically am a top seller.
I finally reached my personal selling limits of $30,000. I contacted eBay about this and was first told it was because I was suspected of drop shipping (Which I do not do). I was asked to answer a few questions and that an appeal would be submitted on my behalf by the CSA. I was told 24-72 hours and I would receive an email. That was 6 days ago.
I reached out again today and asked for an update on this. I was told by this CSR (or at least I think this is what they meant due to an obvious language barrier) that my issue was not being suspected of drop shipping but rather my items don't sell fast enough. So now I am not allowed to list more items, which eBay will receive revenue from when they sell, because some of my listings are specialized items that need to wait for the right buyer to come along?
Does anyone have any insight about this and tips how to get things increased so I can list the items I have sitting in my "to be listed" pile?

First off, if your current monthly selling limit is $30,000 and you've reached that, Congrats! I think we'd all love to have that many sales!
I'm not sure I understand the rest though. If you have reached a selling limit, request a higher one here: https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/listings/selling-limits?id=4107
It can take several rounds of review to qualify for the 2 Billion monthly level (basically 'unlimited'), though.

Hi Ross, the term "Monthly" is misleading (which is another issue I have but not my main one at this point in time). That 30K is actually the TOTAL amount of all items listed in your store. It is reviewed monthly to see where you stand. I am not listing nearly 30k a month, rather maybe 1-2k but it varies.
I just got off the phone with eBay and was now told something different. I was told that they will put in for an increase for me and I just had to answer a couple of questions, which I did.
Its very frustrating when you chat/type/speak with 3 different people and are told 3 different things. I was told I should see an increase in 24 hours but we shall see.
On a possible related note, as soon as I got off a chat earlier with an unprofessional CSR my payouts were put on hold for up to 5 days with no reason, strange.

Did you request a limit increase via the process that eBay already provides, like rosszonebricks suggested?
I've found that in general, following eBay's documented processes works better than circumventing then by calling CS.

Update: after 3 conversations and my payouts being put on hold for some reason (Maybe unrelated but timing is suspect) I finally have updated selling limits. Congrats eBay you made me go through all this just so I can sell more stuff and get you more money.

Yeah, sorry, I forgot it's 'listed or sold'. I've been at the 2B level for so long that I don't even look at it.

@guito I suspect (suspect being the operative here) that your payouts were put on hold while your account was being reviewed for content so the selling limits could be updated.
There's no excuse for the silly excuses you were given by incompetent front-line CS here, but the reason eBay has these guardrails is due to too many sellers making promises they couldn't keep.

Yes, I did try that. It said to contact customer service to request an increase so thats what I did.

Very possible and if that's the case I don't mind them putting things on hold if the need to in order to verify things. I just wish I was told that they were going to do that. Luckily I'm a relatively small seller and I usually just help other people sell their items for a small percentage. This is just something I do on the side. It would stink for someone who does eBay full time!

Their communication definitely could use some improvement on a lot of fronts. 😖

I agree about the customer service. Where do you find that “limits “ figure?

Bottom Left, you should see "Monthly Limits"
Remember, its not "Monthly" as they say, its total limits but its evaluated every month.

There is nothing there. At the very bottom is lists all the offered promotions, nothing even close to that above it. I think I will call. Should be a treat.

22 years and this is what I find.

Good luck! I suggest a couple beers down the hatch before calling. It really does help.
