Selling Limit Increase - Seems impossible to get...

I am not really new with eBay, it says 99 but I think I started earlier. Anyway, my feedback is well above (0) and I mostly keep 100%. Then in 2020 I sort of paused because of Covid and postal delivery to most countries wasn't possible.

So I stopped for I can't recall how many month. That's when eBay decided 'f em'. Suddenly I could not make new listings, and some good listings where cancelled for no reason (no complains received.)

Account is still there, it's a commercial sellers account. According to Sellers Hub I can list

19 items and receive a monthly total of $123.00

Requesting an increase gives me this:

Unfortunately, you're not currently eligible for a selling limit increase.

You may need to build up your selling history or wait until your current monthly limit is reset before you can request another increase to your selling limits. Learn more.

I wonder if there are other non-US ebay.com sellers that that got similar hit for no reason, and how to get out of that. Pretty much impossible to talk to anybody. Mail responses are typically for moron that don't understand the issue and simply return an unrelated canned reply.

What it says on the tin....

There are so many changes in the past 23 years and it can be difficult to keep track, even you are not sure of when you started selling, eh?

EBay treats returning and occasional sellers as if they had never sold here at all.

And it can be so different that we old-timers are effectively newbies. Item Specifics? What? Why?*

First, have you registered for Managed Payments and is everything in place?

If you don't register for MP, especially as a non-resident with a dotCOM account, you may find you have to open a new dotCA account, losing all your FB and other history, just to get paid.

And that's the point of selling, isn't it? Getting paid?

Don't worry about what you can list, until you are sure that any sales will actually put money in your pocket.

*Apparently Google.

New or infrequent sellers are subject to limits, it looks like you perhaps had a couple of small sales almost a year ago.

You need to work with what you have, after 30 days you may get an automatic increase or you can apply. Do not click the button until at least 30 days have passed and you have had at least a few sales.

To sell on dotCOM, you will need an account in a US bank -- and not just an account in a HK bank held in US dollars.

This may mean showing an ITIN number ( I don't know what that is either) and dealing with the US Internal Revenue Service.

Basically you have to prove your identity.

And all those proofs have to match.

If your name is John Jacob Jingleheimer Smith, but you registered the dotCOM account as JJJ Smith, and your bank account has you as John Jacob Jingleheimer Smith, and your government ID shows you as JJ Jingleheimer-Smith, your IDs won't match and registration will fail.

A combined reply: I am already with "Payoneer" and all data is verified, that part should be ok.

I just closed my US bank account (that I had for other reasons, not eBay, but don't really need anymore). All my data should match.

Not sure about the tax/vat issue. In the past US VAT was collected via Paypal automatically, I am not sure how that is with Payoneer. That would be another question.

Yeah, I probably have to start with that $4.10/day limit and go from there. But with the poor eBay sales performance everybody complains about that might be already plentiful.

Selling Limit Increase - Seems impossible to get...

Hi, I´m from Portugal and I started to sell on ebay in January 2022. I haven´t sold anything yet, the first month ( January) I was only allowed to list 10 products. Now I can list 170. Every month I send ebay an email asking to increase my limits. Now I just have to figure out how to sell the products!

Are you on ebay.com and with Payoneer? Does Payoneer collect the US VAT for you?

The best thing to do is sell a lot of little things fast. I sold CDs I got at yard sales. I did not care about making money, just covering the shipping costs. I think then I was selling them for about $3.00.

Make sure you are shipping on time and the description is accurate.

Find something like that, sell a lot of them and make sure you are 100% on all of them.

When you "paused because of Covid and postal delivery to most countries wasn't possible" did you lose any disputes, cancel any listings, or fail to complete any transactions? Did eBay ay any point suspend your selling account?

Because it sure sounds like your selling account was permanently suspended.

I'm on ebay.com. I have to change to a business account first. Not sure how it works yet. Ebay customer service has been great so far. I was just waiting to see if it is worth the hassle. I haven't sold a thing yet. I make ceramic and pottery so lowering the price is not an option for me. Let's see how it goes!

No, no & no. I don't recall any disputes. Buyer will ask me first when items arrive, and if that was above normal (like 3 weeks) I simply did a refund. There where items that I sold and could not ship because those shipping restriction can change any time - those I refunded instantly.

Does Payoneer collect the US VAT for you?

The USA does not have any VAT (Value Added Tax) at the federal/national level.

Almost every state has its own sales tax, and so do some counties and cities.

EBay collects those taxes for the seller when the buyer is invoiced, and remits them to the appropriate agencies.

Sellers pay eBay fees on the ENTIRE payment collected, which includes selling price, shipping cost, and those pesky taxes.

Just an update: 9 month later, still on the same level, certainly no automatic increase - and the manual increase request ends in a bug and can't process.

One of the criteria that eBay looks at when they are deciding whether to increase your limits is whether you have been listing actively up to your current limits.  Keep actively using up those existing limits as much as possible.

Yes, I think so. I see the VAT. So far I never got any money from Payoneer. Must be tenth of dollars now.
