Such may or may not be. Shipping cost on top of item can make such a problem to try and compete with the china sellers...

Re: Selling Items

What is plastic knife holder?  I just throw mine in a drawer.  For serious cooks a wood block or magnetic strip is choice.  Many Americans are starting to veer away from cheap plastic goods from China and the dollar store.

Try selling boat anchors.  Americans love those.

If buyers want to purchase them on eBay, then eBay is a good platform for selling them.

If buyers do not want to purchase them on eBay, then eBay is not a good platform for selling them.

The sellers on this board are not going to do you market research for you, and they are not going to teach you how to lure their buyers away.

Re: Selling Items

You are in Sri Lanka.

Please research with your Govt the ability to register as an entity to sell legally via e-commerce.  It appears there are many complexities for where you are domiciled.

Your first hurdle is the tackling what is above.  Before worrying about what to sell, you would need to be "eligible" to sell.  Good luck!!

Re: Selling Items

As ^^^^ said

According to the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, it appears that people in Sri Lanka need to register as a business first, in order to be able to receive payments in foreign currency, to their BFCA (Business Foreign Currency Account). Here's a link to their website, then click on CAN YOU ACCEPT FOREIGN CURRENCY AS EARNINGS FROM YOUR BUSINESS ACTIVITIES IN SRI LANKA?

Then, you need to register for eBay managed payments, and you will need to have (or create) a Payoneer account when you do that. Your bank account, Payoneer account and eBay account all need to match, so if your bank account is a business account, your Payoneer and eBay accounts have to be business accounts too, and your name and address have to be spelled exactly the same.  Payoneer will verify your identification documents, which may take a few days, or a few weeks.

Re: Selling Items

Sri Lankan members of public are allowed to purchase/ buy on eBay.

Check with your government and central Bank and Question you have to ask is quite simple.

Are Sri Lankan members of public allowed to sell on eBay?

Re: Selling Items

Might want to start with a business consultant first. A little knowledge can go along way and if you are serious it will be worth every dollar they charge you.

I believe they have to register as a business with their government and then set up a way to receive funds since their government doesn't allow the use of PayPal for that.

Re: Selling Items

For Sri Lankan's to sell on eBay it is not sufficient to be a registered business as in addition to this as prospective exporters (eBay sellers selling globally) have to meet further conditions of their central bank and registered businesses who sell in Sri Lanka's local market only do not need to meet central bank's criteria.

Sri Lankan sellers (Exporters) will need to meet their central Bank's conditions/ criteria and I suspect only after this will they be allowed to receive their funds from international sales in Sri Lanka.

Having to register as an exporter in Sri Lanka was voiced on this platform by me some time ago.

Frustration is that these facts are known to professionals and banks in Sri Lanka and yet there are scores of posts on this forum asking the same question.

OP and others from Sri Lanka who post on this forum in the first instance must get professional advice from within their own country.

Accountants, Banks will be able to give them precise advice.

Those who post on this forum will then be available to assist / advice on matters relating to eBay and not their country's unique laws, rules and regulations.
