Selling Cost too high

My selling cost was 42% of my total sales? Any suggestions on how to lower the percentage of my selling cost?

I'd love to help u buy eBay apparently wont allow me to see what your selling anymore. I sell vintage items and doing well at shows. Hotel cost is the most difficult cost to keep in check. I'd say my selling cost is 10 to 25%. The other benefit is buying opportunities.  It is refreshing there is nobody filtering what I can see or buy. 

I plan to get back to selling here on eBay. I plan to sell paid for items.

Hello. I’m trying to understand why if the cost of the item sold is at or near the postage; which the buyer pays; it affects the selling cost. 
I’m sure this is a stupid question but I’m trying to learn to be a smarter seller.
