Selling Anything on Ebay is getting so Frustrating......

What's a Seller to do ? I recently Sold a Motorcycle Helmet to a Customer in Idaho. I'm based in Las Vegas. I ship out almost immediately Signature Delivery because the Buyer lives in an Apartment Complex and he has low feedback. I get a rambling panic message from the buyer that it's my fault i shipped it the wrong way.

Like Dear Lord what Do you mean i shipped it the wrong way ? There's only one way to ship a package. Immediately i see the RED ️ ALERT and the Buyer hits the Button 🚨 Item not Received.

Well wait a darn second let me check Fedex.... Tracking Number shows 3 Exceptions Attempted Delivery, Attempted Delivery, Attempted Delivery. Item is now on hold at Fedex.

I inform the child Look Sun your Box is at Fedex hurry up and take your Government issued ID and run over there and get your Helmut. So he did and Signed for it and got his precious Helmut. & Item now shows Delivered on Ebay Status with Signature Delivery and I call Ebay.

Hello Ebay CS, Hello, please Remove the Payment Hold you placed as the Item shows Delivered in your System. What sounded like a Weasel or Meece answered back NO YOUR FUNDS ON HOLD 5 DAYS AND IF COMPUTER GLITCH MONEY OURS. YOU MUST NEED MONEY BAD YOU HURTING NEED MONEY ??? I DON'T NEED MONEY I'M DOING JUST FINE THANK YOU, ALL I WANT TO DO IS CONDUCT BUSINESS.

WHAT IN THE WORLD HAS HAPPENED TO EBAY ? PLEASE SOMEONE TELL ME - I DON'T NEED MONEY I'M DOING JUST FINE THANK YOU, ALL I WANT TO DO IS CONDUCT BUSINESS.

I've been here too long since 1973 and i'm getting tired, so very tired.  Went on Vacation once to Vancouver Canada Olympic Expo 1986 in a Don Johnson suit and seen the Victoria Gardens. I was 13. Otherwise been stuck in Hell

Womp Womp, Ebay could make this Right, All they have to do is offer 5% monthly interest to my Sales money kept on Ebay. Instead of me transferring every penny out to my Personal Bank's Vault, i'd keep it on Ebay and they could issue me a Debit card. I know why i'm being treated like a 2nd class citizen. They want it all.

Recently there was discussion here about the perils of using signature receipt.  I always / always indicate in the listing that I am doing so so buyers are aware.

As for eBay not releasing your funds... there are a lot of subtle indications of late that eBay is desperate for revenue.

And with eBay's move from human intervention to artificial intelligence, I suspect we will be seeing a lot more of what you describe above.

If you don't need the money, why are you so upset about a hold?

If it was delivered your money will be released.

Like Dear Lord what Do you mean i shipped it the wrong way ?

The helmet was $200 and eBay policy did not require a signature. Many people who work 9-5 jobs cannot be available at home to sign for a package. And it can be difficult or impossible for some to travel to FedEx to collect it.

There's only one way to ship a package.

There are at least two ways. One way is to require a signature, the other way is to not require a signature.

I inform the child Look Sun your Box is at Fedex hurry up and take your Government issued ID and run over there and get your Helmut. So he did and Signed for it and got his precious Helmut

Geesh. That does not sound condescending at all.

I know what you mean. They will let just about anyone sell here.

That is a good point and if you do require signature for delivery, it should be in the listing that it will be delivered that way. I would also suggest messaging the buyer right before you ship it out as a reminder.

I have never had 1 issue where the signature required caused problems or resulted in negative feedback. (30 plus years of shipping items) There are many reasons to have the buyers sign for the packages and it will not create problems unless you are doing something wrong.

Do the same. Saved my bacon at least twice since I started selling.

I usually ship high value items out always with a signature as well to apartment complexes if I am using FEDEX. It IS way way TOO RISKY WITHOUT IT as FED EX has usually has no secure receptacle for their packages unless the resident makes one for themselves. However, if i do not have that stated specifically in the listing I will contact them immediately after the sale alerting them that this package requires signature. If I am going to get any complaints I can then hopefully get them before I ship. The signature stays on despite complaints and they can feel free to cancel the order if they will not accept the signature requirement. FED EX can get packages stolen very easily in these apartment complexes. Heck, I even google the address to see what kind of complex it is as well. Sometimes I also included signature with  USPS packages at these apartment complexes as well. Far too many customers complaining, somebody stole my package.

The only major problem I had with an sig WITH FedEx was two years ago. This lady was never home when they came to delivery. FEDEX is extremely rigid about changing anything on the delivery instructions especially when you buy the labels on Ebay. The lady took about a month to get up to the FEDEX holding facility which was 100 miles from her rural town. That can happen with FEDEX in rural areas.

Although some apartment complexes may have a designated mail room. You just  do not know unless you contact the buyer.
