Sellers get prepared for big payout in the next few weeks

The way I see it, these news-breaking delays in the USPS not delivering packages on time is going to cost us sellers big time in the next few weeks.  Sellers will be held responsible for these delays and forced to refund buyers that do not receive their items on time.  Buyers will get their money back, they will probably eventually get their items, sellers will pay for all these delays directly.  Sellers are about to be forced to refund any sales made in the last month that have not yet been delivered.  Is this right?

Yes, I was kinda a spam title. I thought I was getting something too!...There is no room for contrarians here. Everyone likes to just commiserate and console one another. I must read 10+ responses to get 1 useful and constructive one...I suppose I'm in a small minority of seller where stopping selling is just not an option. I did it all throughout the pandemic since the start, and I felt very fortunate to have a source of income at that time. The package delivery was just as sketchy then in my opinion, and I still did it because I knew that 90% would make it and it gave us a fighting chance to earn. It takes so much to get the eBay machine humming, I think it does more damage long-term to stop and have to start up again.

Yeah but I believe eBay has changed the criteria for INR claims where if it shows movement, they extend the wait time for the buyer to file.

Amen!!!!  Sellers should never be forced to refund cost of item plus shipping for items with tracking #'s showing the item is in transit and will be delivered. We sellers are out the item, cost of item, shipping, and our time!!! Ebay should not be so fast to pull the trigger! I lost big time this month because of the shipping delays, with no recourse to recover anything.

I have a -$650 PayPal balance because of this. I refuse to let eBay steal* from me again, so I ended all of my listings and closed my store after 22 years of continuous selling on eBay. I sell far more on other sites anyway, so I really won't miss eBay.

*eBay stole $500 from me about 10 years ago and it took me 2 years to take it back from them. I'd rather walk away than let it happen again.

Re: Sellers get prepared for big payout in the next few weeks

It's a shame that the packages didn't make it for Christmas. However, even on a good year, buying anything onlie after the first week in December is a risk, after the 15th you're at less than 50%. Every year we go through the same thing during the busy holiday season...I am hoping that the packages will at least move during this week and next to protect against INR cases. Then perhaps the get the item, now they will have to conduct a return and bring the item back to the post office. I think most will keep the item, albeit late.

eBay is not the only one!

All those other seller sites & delivery services are having issues, but it seems funny how nothing is said about Amazon! They pay to hide their issues! They are being investigated for covid-19 employment issues.

Sellers need to upload tracking as quick as possible and stay in touch with your buyers. Your buyer will appreciate it more than you think! They know there is an issue in deliveries!

Another way to look at it is that the gift recipient gets to enjoy an additional Christmas Day.

Multiple packages, both first class and priority mail show no updates or movement for over 2 weeks, this IS going to cost big time.  Multiple customers have filed claims, and are about to receive refunds for product they will receive.  Again, the seller loses on Ebay, very frustrating.

Just after the election I closed up shop after 19-20 years,. A new site that has Seller,Buyer (80%-20%) or Community control would be a breath of fresh air - Power to the People ,., To many constant changes , how many different ways can a Camels Back Be Broken? A smoke and mirror sh*t show , China COUNTERFEIT is KING ,.Never listening to anyone sure has made the Bay a cesspool of scammers , non existent customer service ,,Never a change helping the sellers in any way -  How deep does the rabbit hole go? My ride is done - Good Luck All

I have not has an INR filed in a while.all of my packages seem to be going thru.as far as having to refund your customers what is the big deal.I am sure you could handle 10 INR without batting an eye.I know I could.

I do not see any crisis.I ship 40 packages a week and if I had to refund for 10 of them in december the world woud not collapse..I must have the best customers becasue they refuse to ask me whats going on.

That's what makes the world a special place, everybody is not you. 10 INR's for me is a significant hit to me.

As a result , the big deal (as you put it) of refunding the customer is at a high cost to me. Also, a lot of time involved.

When you have the 10 INR's some December maybe your input would have more of an effect.

So, INR's affect me, they take time and energy and cost money. I understand, you do not care, you can take the hit, superb, wonderful. Oh, I forgot, this has not happened to you.

Cool if you don't care. I'm cool if other do care.

I FOR SURE am not critical of either.

Re: Sellers get prepared for big payout in the next few weeks

600 packages and 2 INR, agreed not a big deal to you. It would be significant to me if the 2 items were valuable.

Everybody is different. Different people have different interpretations of acceptable losses. Losses are NOT always money. It can be time and/or stress. NO eBay poster can determine that for another.

30 packages and 10 INR of significant value to the SELLER, not YOU maybe, but it can be a significant blow.

I 100% got what the poster was saying

It's just a word, geez, give um a break...

I got it too.

The smiley face following my statement indicates it was a joke.

Apologies if you misunderstood that.

trying to suppress their opinion.

Seriously?

You think that me pointing out that some sellers might have a different experience is "suppressing his opinion"?

The comments in red are not my comments, they are part of my comments so I am unable to respond. I to apologize for any misunderstanding.

I may be reacting to the overwhelming amount of posters that wants to defend the present state of affairs. If it does not apply to you and you choose to make statements about it, yes it is a way SOME(maybe/maybe not you) suppress others opinion.

The OP had a statement and you needed to suggest how others are not having the experience or having it with differing impact. Well, that's fine. You, I am sure were 100% correct but that's NOT what the original poster was talking about.

I think the poster should be validated and listened to. Your suggesting that other members reading the thread needed to know that not all sellers were experiencing issues defocuses from the OP point. Then the floodgates open to other posters to continue that train of thought and NOT address the issue. Yes, to ME, that's subtle way suppress.
