here is the list of playboys to date that will give you a listing violation. ebay does not post nor share this list (easily). I do not understand why ebay will not post this list so sellers do not get account violations and restrictions. is it so difficult to be proactive?
after going round and round and round about playboy being allowed as stated, and yet fail to provide a list that will cause your account to have policy violations. i was finally able to verbale get an internal ebay list of playboys. i asked about penthouse the person would not say or provide if any violate policy.

let's not forget about this issue also!
Playboy Magazine Collectors Edition Fiftieth 50th Anniversary Issue January 2004
got that one, AND the Jan 09 issue you spoke of, both pulled this week off my store,
after they both sat there listed for a WHILE.....funny how the AI detection system doesn't pick up stuff right away.
who knew there were minors photographed in all these issues!!!
Crazy.
my only question, does anyone know just how many policy violations you can accumulate before account gets dinged?!
as this is only my 3rd violation, in 1 year of selling, (the other was for a weapons violation policy,) which was for a pair of batman brass knife knuckles I was selling, (more really for wall decor tho)....sucks too, had a TON of watchers on that one..
oh well!

You can add July 1981 and May 1977 to your list. Thanks for posting that.

This is the kind of thing eBay chooses not to disclose, because if sellers knew the exact amount they could get away with, they would do it that many times, then start another account to do it that many times again (etc.).
But I doubt anybody here would use the word "only" for 3 violations in 1 year of selling, YIKES. I would advise being a lot more careful and looking up prohibited items in the Help pages before you list anything with even the slightest correlation to sex, violence, drugs, racial stereotypes, anything made from any part of any animal .... I'm sure I'm forgetting several more things.

Add January 1974 to the list.

You can add VHS tapes that are rated "R" and in their catalog and prefill info for you when you list.

”my only question, does anyone know just how many policy violations you can accumulate before account gets dinged?!”
eBay keeps such info close to the chest, but what is known is that multiple violations of the same rule can wreak utter havoc with one’s selling privileges.
Relisting a pulled item, for example, can get a seller suspended for a time as a penalty. If they ignore the rule and persist in continuing to relist it, each subsequent removal earns a longer suspension, and sometimes becomes a permanent one. Have witnessed this here over the years.
Have also seen sellers get a subsequent suspension even after getting permission from eBay to relist a pulled item. The seller relists only to have it removed again, and another stricter penalty imposed, again. (As a result, i advise new sellers never to relist a removed item, under any circumstances, as it’s too risky. Their fledgling accounts often cannot absorb the hit well.)
So the bottom line is to learn the policies and avoid the dings as best as one may.

Thank you very much for this. I tried to sell full year 2004 including the January edition which is apparently the reason for exclusion. It contains an ad with a minor (a whole family) who are supposedly nude, but covered with barrels. If this is true (eBay is not giving specifics), then that is about the dumbest thing I’ve ever. Thanks again for the list so I can avoid this nonsense

Thanks for taking the time to share this list — it’s incredibly helpful. The lack of transparency around restricted Playboy issues has definitely caused confusion for many sellers, especially when trying to stay within eBay’s adult material and listing policy guidelines.
It would make a lot more sense if eBay proactively published an official list or at least provided clearer criteria for what makes specific issues restricted — whether it's due to historical legal concerns, model age, or content type. Sellers just want to avoid policy violations, and it shouldn’t require trial and error.
Posts like this are valuable for the community. I’ve seen similar issues discussed in other industries too — for example, in the property sector where clarity is key, like with remax star ilford listings needing compliance with local advertising rules. Transparency goes a long way in both cases.
Hopefully this helps other sellers avoid account trouble. Appreciate you sharing it.
