Did you mean:

Seller sent me wrong item (very poorly packed).

I ordered this...

correct clockcorrect clock

I received this (packed in a padded envelope).....

wrong clock .jpg

I initiated a return.

Would i be out of line asking the seller NOT to ship my correct clock in a padded envelope?

If you want a replacement, that has to be worked out with the seller.  I'm going to guess the seller doesn't have what you ordered though.

You definitely received the wrong item and are entitled to a full refund once the clock has been returned.

No, that is not out of line. The seller has already demonstrated that they don't know how to ship their own products safely.

I sell some records, and have buyers request I ship certain ways to avoid damage. I already do it that way, but realize many sellers are clueless how to ship records properly.

If a buyer asked me to do something outrageous and wanted me to eat a bunch of extra costs, that would be different.

While it would not be out of line I believe I would just return the item, take the refund and look elsewhere.

No, just eternally optimistic. So far you've received the wrong item and it was improperly packed. I don't see any sign that another go-round with that seller will improve your chances. Is there no other seller in the world for that particular clock?

I think the seller had what you received, and just "borrowed" the photos of a clock that looked vaguely similar instead of taking his own.

I am not a fan of buyers telling me how to package an item.  As long as the item arrives intact and undamaged there need not be comment.  If the item is damaged then as a buyer one is fully covered and the risk and any loss falls upon the seller.

It would appear your first issue is if re-shipment of the correct Clock is even viable?  Big difference between the 2 products.

Do Sellers skimp on shipping to Hawaii due to cost?  Why would you ever ship something fragile in a bubble mailer?

Sure you wish to try for round 2?  (Big A out of stock to prime one over??)

Never. No seller with any experience is going to simply issue a refund on without an open eBay case to track the information in. You have been on eBay for a whole 2 days. The sellers in Sri Lanka need to get some experience and understand eBay before you start answering questions or providing guidance.

@inhawaiiIf you still want to do more business with them, let them know they can ship to Hawaii in a USPS flat rate box. I can't tell the dimensions of the clock from the pics, but there are several sizes of FRB available. If you're willing to pay, I don't see why they would refuse. If the price included free shipping, they may need to charge more to cover the additional shipping. Sellers can ship however they want to, but they are taking the risk that the item will arrive damaged. Since the risk is all theirs, and they will have to refund if it arrives damaged, it's entirely up to them. They may not consider your disappointment in not getting the item that you wanted.

I wouldn't trust that the seller even has your clock anymore. They sent you the $12 clock they sold on 8/28, so did they send the 8/28 buyer the $28 clock you purchased on 8/26? Their feedback has a bunch of comments about not following through. And they shipped it in a padded mailer which speaks volumes.

You'd probably be better off doing a straight return for refund. I see at least 2 retailers that have the same clock brand new for only $10 more than what you paid, or you can do a saved search on eBay and wait for another preowned model to pop up.

The seller takes their own photos. I think they swapped the shipping labels on 2 clock sales.
