Recently sold an exhaust system for a supercar to a buyer for just over £900. Couple of days after the buyer received the system I got a message from him saying that the system didn't fit and he would be sending it back.
Well, I knew the system would fit as it's very high end so he was either fitting it incorrectly......or something else.
I had to pay over £25 for return of the system and when I got it back I was horrified to see that it had been used (shiny bright stainless steel when I left me. Dull bronze colour when I got it back). It was also very badly packaged and there were some fixing bolts and a special jubilee clip missing.
I couldn't do a **bleep** thing about it as eBay gave me no option to reduce the refund accordingly, presumably because I was a private seller. I have photo's, evidence....everything to prove it (+100% feedback).
I have probably lost at least £250 on the system now because I'll have to sell it as used!! Plus return postage and replacement of the missing parts.
How can this be? Ebay is always siding with the buyer in my experience and I'm totally fed up with it. Will just be selling low value items through them from now on. Sorry for rant, just needed to get it out there.
