Hello, my seller level has been below standard since September 2021. I came down with Covid-19 in August 2021 and was hospitalized for 75 days, 45 days on full life support. During this 45 day period I had some sales before my family was able to put my store on time away. There were 13 claims filed by my customers during that period. I could not resolve them because I was on a ventilator and Ebay stepped in and resolved them, as they should. I have been trying for 6 months to get Ebay to remove these defects because they were beyond my control. Any suggestions on how to get Ebay to remove these defects and return my account to above standard? Dennis member since 2007.

These defect were not beyond your control; you simply did not have an adequate business plan in place.
Many people in your situation have posted here and I have not read many success stories from sellers who got these defects removed.

So very sorry you had a near -death experience with Covid. Hope you have minimal long-term affects from it as well.
Your situation is unusual , but not one e-Bay likely had an accomodation for (sounds as your escalation was quick/rapid).
Reach out to e-Bay on social media and document with them what occurred and plead your case. Hopefully, they will work with you on some level.
Good luck!

And maybe that's something we all need to work on. Who will take over, for the short term, if something happens to you? Who will at least tell the buyers that their item is canceled and stop all your listings-if needed.

I do hope things are better now. That's such a scary thing to have happen and I'm so sorry you had to go through that.

Anyone who sells anywhere online on a consistent basis needs to have a backup plan to shut things down should something happen - it's not the platform's responsibility. I have no doubt at all that you'll work your way out of this. The important thing is that you survived that horrible ordeal - I know people who didn't.
You can try Facebook but I would be prepared to keep on keeping on, and in the meantime if you haven't, set up a backup plan - just the account, password and step-by-step for canceling everything - make sure you keep it updated and talk to one or two trusted individuals about doing this.

I'm sorry about your experience with covid. The suggestion to contact ebay on facebook above is good. I would get some basic documentation together incase they ask for it, such as hospital papers and a diagnosis. In the past ebay has been lenient on sellers whose shipments were disrupted by covid.

There should be a gigantic PAUSE button to hold everything in case of emergency

Sorry to hear of your struggles. Sounds like a horrible experience.
We have back ups for our back ups. Trying to be prepared for everything from illness to power outages. There are 3 people familiar with eBay and our store. We have three computers and 2 printers. We have a laptop so if we have to go to a coffee shop we can do the basics. We have library cards so we can use their computers. We have a great and friendly relationship with our carrier and he'll go out of his way for us.
Stuff happens. Nothing is foolproof. But it's important for sellers to try to be prepared.

Dennis,
To me, the most important part of this post is that you have survived to complain. There are no words.
This is a heads-up to everyone, young or old, to get your personal information in written order. Let someone, friend or relative, know where you put it. This may include passwords, phone numbers and business associations. This may sound ridiculous for you younger people, but tomorrow is never a promise.
A reminder to be kind. One never knows what is going on in the life of any poster here.
Dennis, you have already won.

This is sound advice from @njrtsr . Since you are asking eBay to remove defects, you may need to show evidence of your ordeal. Otherwise everyone could make such a claim to avoid punitive consequences. It is not unusual for eBay to ask for documentation. That is not an insult to your veracity, it’s just taking care of business.
Very glad to hear you are on the mend. Good luck in your quest, @maphatter
