Sell limit for new sellers for computer desktop

Hello,

I am a new seller starting using eBay today. I am based in Texas, USA. I have a computer desktop that I want to start a bidding at $1,300 ( It's almost a brand new machine I purchased it for $2,500 a year ago and barely use it). After finalizing the listing, it errored out on me saying that I cannot sell due to dollar amount limit.

What option do I have rather than waiting for a month?

It takes more than just waiting a month to have selling limits increased.

Start the bid at $1 with reserve. You will have to pay extra for reserve but it will get your listing on Ebay. Good luck.

New sellers need to start small. A new seller listing a high value item like a PC has a large target on their back for every scammer that thinks they can pull a fast one on the newbie. You best bet would be to try to sell that locally on Craig's list or FB marketplace. You might not get as much, but you have to figure how much you would pay in fees and shipping on eBay.  Also, that way you also don't have to worry about returns or getting ripped of when someone returns a box of rocks.

If you want to increase your seller reputation it will take time and work, nothing less

Sell locally.  

With that said, maybe you need to think about how much you are willing to possibly lose to scammers.  They are not just here,but everywhere online.

Sell a few cheaper things until you build up a good reputation, then ask for a limit increase

$97 for the reserve is a pretty expensive way to get the item listed, with no guarantee of a sale.

@is-136197  I would be wary of listing high value items as a new seller.  If you search the boards and on social media you will find thousands of people complaining about getting scammed by eBay.  Like it or not eBay is not a place for casual sellers, and especially casual sellers selling high risk items.  Casual sellers basically have no protections when selling on this site.

If you do want to try to sell on eBay take other people's advice and start with low value items.  Also be sure to read all the policies.

Make sure you read up on online scams and returns before you list as a new seller such a pricey item. You will be targeted by scammers who will take off with your item and money. New sellers need to start small. That is why they have limits. Don't list that computer!

I've been selling since 2011 and there's no way I would list a $1300 computer here.

You would be a prime target for scammers and there's god chance you would loose the computer and any payment you receive for it.

Thanks much for all who commented and shared words of wisdom. Amount of heedful and cautionary (yet honest) sentiment I acquired from reading between the lines convinced me to not list the product here. It's bit of shame I guess but that's for the best. I remember first time wife used eBay was back in 2007-ish and there were not a lot of noise around online scamming and fraudulent transactions (or I least we were not aware of it).

Well said Question I just Don’t know how eBay Does all there Fess. Iam a New Seller and I have been paying 28% of the Value of my items So when I list my items will have to raise my Price up 15% so Someone has too Pay I guess the Down to the Buyer,which I don’t like doing EBay Seller
