Not for us but for seven people we know who sell here in town.
The guy who owned the self storage place they used died with no will, and his five or six kids and two living ex's either can't be found or don't reply or do and don't care and nobody can agree on anything but not agreeing ...
Going on six months with no access to their stuff.

And the question is......

When are the Storage Hunters and their camera crew due to turn up?

There is no question, just a heads up to people who use independent places and not franchised ones.
Our friends had to end all listings and basically start from scrape, and six months later still have $1000's in inventory in limbo.

Sounds like a job for a lawyer

That's interesting. I have never used a storage unit for any purpose, personal or business, and it would not have occurred to me that such a problem might arise if I were renting from Joe Blow instead of Storage-Я-Us. Worth thinking about for those who do use such facilities.

If you utilize a storage unit, try not to die.
It creates a headache for everyone.

Don't they have keys to their units?

Thank you.
That's all we're saying. Many small towns have only local places - for years we only had "Nuel's internet service" run out of his music shop to get internet. We now have 'name brand' net/cable/phone but all their repair bases are 4/5 hours away and closed weekends. Car took out pole on Thursday, we hot spotted net till Monday.

Anybody can be found. Did you check Social Media? You probably need a good lawyer who knows a good detective.
Are you the storage owner? You don't make it clear what your relationship is.

So Steve, you're asking for your friend? Is the storage locked? Friend can't get in. You don't make it clear.

They might not have access to the site itself, which may be fenced / gated and padlocked.
Even if they do have access to the site, they would probably be unable to get their stuff until it is determined that they are paid up, with no rent or other fees due to the estate. And while that could be easily determined, the presumed heirs must stop squabbling among themselves long enough to do it. These situations are always a mess.

Not clear?

They have no access to place or stuff, and not part of the lawsuits.

You hit it on the head again, no access or say in the matter.
And forgot about the guy owning back taxes and with him dead the place - a four story building with windows along a highway - sits dark so two break-ins.

Moral of the story-get everything in writing. My guess is this "guy" just had everyone pay in cash so no record of any transaction.
