Selective Buyers Only

It seems that some buyers who have won a bid or buy now, have a problem with paying;  in the few weeks of my being a regular seller, I have had 2 people not pay and had to open a case, eventually re-posting the product again for sale. Now it seems that in both cases the buyer had only been a New Member on Ebay, of my product(s) postings. Upon their winning bid/buy now, in the end the winner would/did not pay and I had lost a potential sale to other members who had bid on the product along side of these blokes.

Q; is there anyway I can block or stipulate somehow automatically that the bidding or buy now is only accepted for establish buyers Only! ? - In having to wait forever to go through the process of waiting to get paid back from Ebay fees so I can relist is ridiculous. I do this selling thing on the side to suplement my small income, and so the products I have are tied up moneys and don't have the luxury of waiting forever... Thx in advance for any answer to this....

@1sicilianstalion

You cannot sell to "established buyers" only.  What will help with your non-paying bidders is adding Immediate Payment Required (IPR) to your non-auction listings.

https://pages.ebay.com/help/pay/require-immediate-payment.html

For those that have already not paid, you can add them to your Blocked Bidder List (BBL) so they cannot (theoretically) "buy" from you again:

Great! 45.8% down over the same time last year with 2x+ items listed. Are you impressed? I'm certainly not!

@1sicilianstalion,

Since your items are listed a BIN, revise the listings to include Immediate Payment Required, and that will put an end to your problem.  You can also set up the Unpaid Item Assistant which will automatically open a dispute after 48 hours, then the buyer has 4 days to pay, or they get an unpaid item strike.

https://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/unpaid-item-assistant.html

To automatically block those who have 2 unpaid item strikes in the last 12 months, You can set up your buyer requirements to do that.

https://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/manage_bidders_ov.html

When looking at the Buyer requirements, there is one to block buyers woithout a PayPal account.  Think carefully about using that one.  A lot of people who have a PayPal account do not know how to link them to ebay, and they get blocked from bidding or buying, but are good payers.

There are several blocks in your Buyer Requirements that you might find helpful. To try to limit deadbeat buyers, you can block members who have two or more non-payment strikes on their account. You can also block members who don't have a PayPal account which ebay advises as another method.  If ryou don't already have Buyer Requirements set up, here is the link with everything you need to know from ebay's Help pages:

@1sicilianstalion  There is no way to block New Buyers other than the setting in Site Preferences - Buyer Requirements as other have mentioned.  But those settings will NOT block a new Buyer who has their account set up properly (with PayPal, etc.).

1. For Fixed Price listings make sure you check the Immediate payment required box

2. On Auctions IF the Buy it Now option is selected you can check the Immediate payment required box too.  if someone buys with that choice they have to immediately pay.

I'm sorry that you've had to deal with that...I know how you feel! As some other users have pointed out, setting up buyer requirements does help weed some of the deadbeats out. I noticed more of those types of buyers when I sold video games. I got so tired of it that I would write in the description "users with feedback of 5 or less need to contact me prior to bidding or else will be blocked". That actually worked pretty well for me. Everytime somebody with low feedback bid without messaging me first, I would cancel the bid and block them. The auctions went to paying buyers that way.
I don't do nearly as many auctions now, and just have went to buy it now. Requiring immediate payment does get rid of that issue pretty well. Best of luck to you!

It's another new seller selling high dollar items and not understandin how ebay works.  I am very surprised that you haven't had a few scam attempts and disputes yet.  But give it time.

OP, what is happening is the buyers buy and then ebay will show them - after they bought - listings of cheaper, better items and the buyer might buy 3 or 4 of them before paying for the cheapest one.   Setting blocks will slow them down a bit, but not help much as a buyer can reregister a new id in about a minute and then buy and not pay.

But immediate payment required is your solution for your problem at the moment.

I also advise that you list and sell a lot more low dollar items and get a lot more selling feedback before you start listing anything over $50.

No, there is no way to block new bidders.

You can list fixed price, immediate payment required; that way, the item is not bought until it is paid for, and your listing stays up.  No chasing non pays.

In cases of an auction, you open an Unpaid Item Dispute in 48 hrs, close it in 96 hrs, buyer gets a strike, you get your fees back.

Most sellers block those with 2 or more unpaid item strikes in a year, for a year.

You can also block for policy violation reports.  IIRC that would be 4-6 in a year.

These can cut down on issues.
