Seems like this is the problem with retail sales

It is just telling you what many of us have said all along.  Summer months there are decreased sales.  I'm one of the many sellers having slow sales.  It happens to me every year.  With August being my worst month of the year.  For me, things start picking up mid September and keep climbing for the holidays.  I hope the same is true for all the sellers having slow sales this summer.

It would be interesting to see the same graph in a couple of months.  I hope you will keep us informed.

I was just surprised that middle income families "Purchase Power" fluctuate that much, I guess it explains why no steady sales year after year on eBay. The purchase power is gone now, and the refund power is emerging.

Summertime the kids are home.  They have to feed and entertain them 24/7.  The summer trend is one I've seen the entire time I've been selling on Ebay.  And it picks up a week or two after kids are back to school, in my experience.

The link you provided is a very good video.  Something I've been saying on these threads for quite a while now and many posters really got on me for it.  But while the overall economy is in much better shape and continuing to improve, the middle class people have a HUGE hole to climb out of because of the financial damages of the Pandemic.  We need to respect that the best we can.  It is clearly the truth for many.

I watched that video and This is the problem and it also makes for a bigger problem Then it's trying to fix the problem that has no solution and makes things worst.

Consumer depth how exceeds over 1 trillion dollars. Inflation of food and fuel take priority. take the higher interest rates that does not allow for rapid payment of a trillion dollars in consumer depth. Add it all up and it just gets to be a deeper hole for folks . Final solutions is Land that 100 K job, WIN THE LOTTERY or just BANKRUPT.

If your working most earn about 50 K. and less. Most of this is taken by driving housing & Energy. And with recent storms and fire add HIGHER INSURANCE cost in the mix.

So we are all in a new environment at this stage until the failures start pouring in And that could reset the system again. In the mean time folks do FEATHERING if they are able too. And that will end.

NEXT eBay is faced with slowing sales and is trying to increase it's income, But by doing so it is killing sells even more.  With Each quarter  report the numbers keep falling. So There new bag of tricks > PROMOTION SALES Trying to run it like a NEWSPAPER. More MONEY gets you more exposure?

BUT HOW DO YOU SHARE AND CONTROL THIS PROMOTION ON A E-COMERCE SITE OF SO MANY MIXED ITEMS & PLATFORMS

WHO and HOW ARE THE BUTTONS BEING PUSHED?  After all for most folks they do not have a truck load of the same item. I understand some do. Promote one single listing for the same item with hundreds available.   but for multiple items for a single listing this promotion thing is just not working good.

I know and see this and made a point using the NEWSPAPER as a example. BAD CHOICE. I fully understand BIGGER AD'S COST MORE.

But this is not a NEWPAPER it's e-Commerce. and the problem is how do you sell mom & pops salt shakers So let me make another point. YOU DON'T because they get mixed up and competing for shelf space to the point YOU CAN NOT EVEN FIND THEM. Because the computer does not know where to place them. Or THE BUTTON PUSHER. Because JOE PAID 25 dollars to sell his 10 dollar shakers. But he has a thousand of them.  WHAT HAPPENS TO YOUR TEN DOLLAR SHAKERS? No one can find them. And some do. But the listing becomes hit or miss.

One of the things I'm doing now is getting my wife to pull my page up and add the listing to her watch list. I seems to help. Even then I find many items are showing NO VIEWS yet 1 WATCHER.  Sometimes this happens on Items that she is not even watching. I got a watcher BUT NO VIEW COUNT.

I understand times are tough AND I'M FEELING THE PAIN as my income is going BACKWARES each month.

And with the U.S. depth of well over 32 trillion.  Well we are all facing problems. JUST SAYING.

HANG IN THERE There will be some stormy waters and then they will give us a NEW DEAL like FED COINS.

Seems like this is the problem with retail sales

FWIW, I dumped $296 at Wal-Mart yesterday on some groceries and household supplies. There are 3 in my household.

Then paid $43 for office supplies on my business account.

$296 was a Wal-Mart record for me and I had less than a 1/2 shopping cart. It is nutz what we are paying for a lot of these products.

Lower and middle income are drowning in this economy.

I know I am going to puke when I get the electric bill for this past month.

No matter how you slice it, there is less spendable cash for many.

I absolutely agree no matter how many people say the economy is better.  While that is true, retailers are NOT dropping pricing back to pre Pandemic pricing and that is a real problem.  For those that eat meat or those that don't, the pricing for food is beyond reasonable or right.

Not only have manufacturers of various food products raised pricing to an out of sight price, they have also decreased the amount of the food in the package.

IMHO it is out of control and causing our neighbors to have to go without in many cases.  Which simply should not happen here for the working class.  I mean sometimes even a head of lettuce is just too expensive to get when grocery shopping.

I dumped $6,500 into our 3 vehicles last year.  Everything brought up to snuff. 145k, 174k and 207k miles on each. We ain't buying any new vehicles in the near term. Or perhaps the longer term.

I don't know if my mechanic buys off eBay.
