Seeing bid retractions

I’m a new again seller.

Ive has several auctions go up in price and then drop down. I can’t figure out where to find the bid retractions though.

Ive used both the mobile and regular site.

Can someone please explain how I look this up?

thank you

Seeing bid retractions

If there has been bid retractions you will find them at the bottom of the bid history on the listing.

*madison's right: click on the number of bids showing in the auction listing, then scroll to the bottom of the Bid History page to see if any retractions have occurred. If you're the seller, you will also get notified in email if a retraction has occurred.

To see a bidder's retraction count history (which is what I first thought you were asking about), go to your bidder's feedback page, and select their Feedback as a Buyer tab. Their bid retraction count is listed on the right edge of that page, about halfway down (just above the section showing the feedback comments).

You can also view their retraction count by clicking on their disguised bidder ID, what you see when you are looking at the bid history of your auction while not logged in to your account (or when viewing someone else's auction bid history).

Note that there's a subtle inconsistency in how their retraction count is labeled: on their Feedback as a Buyer page, the number is shown as a 12-month total. In the statistics shown for their disguised bidder ID, the same number is labeled as their 6-month total. Someone from eBay (I'm thinking it was Brian T, but can't remember for sure now) was supposed to be looking into that, but I never heard anything further after some initial dialogue and samples provided.

I've looked at one of your auctions ,  the Disney Store Ornamant and you have 3 bid retractions.

Some buyers use bid retraction to discover max bids.  Against the rules, but they do it anyway.

It gets worse. That bidder with the disguised ID of 1***i(163) (which is all we can see of it; the seller can see their full ID in the bidding) is bad news, showing 13 bid retractions in the past month (including at least two sets of retractions in two auctions by the OP currently running), and 20 over the past 6 months, according to the summary shown when clicking on their disguised ID. They're spraying bids all over the place among 17 different sellers, either to bid on the lowest price and bail if it goes too high, or to just uncover a rival's high bid and then decide whether to stay in the bidding at that point.

Frankly, I would have cancelled and blocked that bidder (here) after their second retraction. Letting them continue to abuse multiple auctions of yours is not going to end well. I notice another retraction by another bidder in one of the auctions discussed here, in which it appears that the second bidder (who has a total of 3 retractions altogether) may have been spooked into retracting after seeing the antics of the first one.

Thank you all.

I figured out I needed to look it up on the computer. Unfortunately I was to late to do anything about it.

A couple of bids this person made also had retractions from the same bidder. It looks to me they were bidding it up so no one else would and then retracted their bids.

Im not sure if I can cancel the transactions after the auction ends. I don’t want to be out fees though.

eBay says:

When you can retract a bid
You can retract a bid if:
- You can't reach the seller. For example, you sent the seller an email and it comes back undeliverable, or you tried calling the seller and the phone number doesn't work

I'm well aware of that.  As bids can only be retracted before the auction end, buyer doesn't have the seller's phone number to call.  You go through the Ebay message system, you don't email.  If you sent an Ebay message with no response from the seller within 24-48 hrs, (and Ebay can see if you have done that), that would be the only grounds.

Sadly, that doesn't change what I said...buyers use it to uncover max bids, which is not one of the allowable reasons to retract.

The other two, other than the one about contact, are there is a change in the description, and you entered the wrong amount.
