Search Yields NO RESULTS but Google has no trouble

Twice today I put a UPC in the search and got no results. So I go to google to see if the item is being sold outside of ebay and for how much so I know how much to list it for. Well would you look at that.... Google found all the ebay results that ebay told me didn't exist.

I am searching SOLD items. The seller of the item I found DID put the UPC in and it VERBATIM matches what I put in the search. They HAVE sold one AND have one currently listed but ebay hid that for some reason and I had to ask google to show it to me.

I wasn't looking to buy this item but what if I was? Would I have found it searching ebay, NO! But its there, for me to buy, so long as I get a third party to find it for me.

Is this why my sales are in the toilet? People searching for items I have and being given NO RESULTS? Are the only sales I am getting are the sales from people following up with google?

This makes me so angry. Its like they charge for something and then don't provide it. That should be illegal.

Yep seems to be a MAJOR MAJOR problem with eBay search.

Sure to run off buyers.

Very common, researching a item and find none on ebay then go to google and end up back on ebay.

I have a item right now that was selling out as quick as i would add qty, ran out of stock for a week and now not selling, found out why.

  I can search the first 6 words of the title exact which contains all the pertinent keywords and it will not show up at all, not just bottom of search, it does not show up at all. doing best match, nearest first or any other way.

One should not compare Ebay's Mickey Mouse search engine with that of Google's far more advanced search engine.   It is not uncommon for a Google search to find something on Ebay that is missed using an Ebay search.  Most people do not put a UPC code into the title of their listing and the titles are what an Ebay search focuses upon.   Fortunately, I doubt too many people using Ebay search for an item using a UPC code.

Searching for a UPC number or a part number alone - with any other keywords - has always been a weakness on eBay.

a ebay search at least used to return a UPC, model or part number that was not in the title.

It would be interesting to note if those listings that 'google found' actually had the UPC code in:

the title

the description body

item specifics 

or a combination thereof??

and still did not show on an on site eBay search query.   Not that it matters much.  Another person doing the same exact search by UPC number on eBay is likely to be shown all the results.
