Did you mean:

Scolded by eBay

Got an email from EBay scolding me for violating TOS and attempting to make a sale off-site. Here’s the text that EBAY sent to me:

“If you mean the number under the bar code, it?s 0075305147”

A potential buyer asked me for a code on the back of a rare CD to check authenticity. That was my answer. Hey eBay, if you weren’t so big and impersonal with horrendous customer service you might have been able to read what YOU sent me and see that it wasn’t an attempt to make contact with the buyer off-site.

I know it really doesn’t matter but this is typical of our world, businesses become so big that they have no real connection with its customers and do things like that. I haven’t actually used eBay in many years until now, i have started using alternative selling sites and this reinforces that choice.  If a local mom and pop store treated its customers this way they would be out of business in short order.

Good riddancd.

If ever we get one of these false alarm slaps we call Ebay and have a CS agent or whoever is in charge of looking at these to make a note on our account that we are not attempting to sell off Ebay.

Have you ever checked back to see if there truly are such notes noted on your account ?

Exactly why i won't list local pickup here. I wont deal with it. There are sites that work well for that and are free.

It wasn't listed as local pickup; I don't do that, either.  Buyer lived close by and wanted to save the shipping cost and, being a good sale for me, I agreed.

Understandable but i wont do that anymore on ebay either, they buy i ,ship period. No exceptions.

Okay, here's another one.  First the hail, then the locusts ...

Someone just contacted me, wanting to buy all of my inventory in a certain category.   Shipping will be astronomical and of course I have to know where she lives since she stated that cost would be part of the "deal".  I also have more items that aren't listed yet so would want to send her all of that information.

Of course I want to sell all of this ... stuff ... because I fully intend to retire when the last box heads to the post office.  I have no problem setting it up through ebay and paying the fees but just the setting up part will require a lot of messaging.

Signed,

Weary Already

Unfortunately, ebay only has the A.

They are missing the I.

No, they have them both... Arrogant Incompetence.

Chaos is NOT an "industry standard".

I don't believe we should blame the bots.  They are only machines and any intelligence, artificial or otherwise, was given them by their programmers.  When it comes to bestowing intelligence on them, might I suggest that those doing the bestowing may need some before they bestow it.

And to think, many years ago, I was living in Orange County, was going to be in the LA area for a class and was actually able to offer to drop off a paid for FENDI bag at someone's house, and that was all o.k.  Those were the good old days.
