Scanned Packages and Stats

I know this may sound petty but it irritates me that I get dinged on the fact carriers haven't scanned packages. How am I supposed to control this? I mean really, I have 8 that weren't scanned and I feel this is just playing games with our stats.

I haven't approached eBay on this situation but I do think they need to take another look at this problem.

Thank you for your nice reply. My seller standard isn't affected but it just angers me that either eBay not recognizing the tracking number when downloaded or not scanning on the way to the customer, is just plain sloppiness. I take my packages to the post office because I can't get them in my mailbox so a scan sheet is of no use.

Still lost.  Ebay doesn't scan anything, the USPS does.

LOL, a scanning kiosk. ... I live in a town of 1500 people, we have two windows, one to two clerks at a time. I watch them get scanned, go home, upload the tracking information and for a few of them, eBay never recognized I downloaded the info. That ticked me off, I called and I could have spit in the wind for all the good that did. My items usually hit the sort center after midnight. They closed our regional center a few years back then during the wonderful Minneapolis riots, they burnt the Minneapolis one to the ground so now St Paul does double duty.

All of it goes USPS. I trust my local PO 100% as I watch them scan every package. It is either eBay that doesn't recognize the uploading or another glitch in the system.

Assuming you uploaded the tracking within your handling time (correct?) then that points to eBay's system not registering the scans for some reason.

eBay generally doesn't remove this stuff unless it affects a seller's status (such as losing TRS or losing Above Standard).

Are any of these examples recent or are they all from 2-3 years ago?

May I ask why you are purchasing postage at the PO instead of online through eBay where you'll get a significant discount?

My postmistress's daughter went to prom with my grandson and the other counter person went to school with me. The ones that come from the two closest towns; I worked with one during my days as a director of banquet sales at a Best Western and the other one from another town is married into my husband's family. Rural MN, ya gotta love 'em. Cathy, Al and I have talked about this at times. The worst time I had was when they burnt down the Minneapolis Central PO, which did sorting and all of a sudden St Paul was doing double duty. That's how far these go back!

Okay, are you buying the postage (shipping labels) on-line via eBay or another provider, or are you buying the labels over the counter at the post office?

If you are buying the labels via eBay, the tracking numbers will already be uploaded to the sale. If you are buying the labels elsewhere (from a different provider such as Pirateship, or over the counter at the post office), you will need to upload the tracking number to the sale yourself (so keep your receipt).

If you are walking into the post office with a paid, barcoded label already on the package, they need to scan the barcode when they take possession of the package. eBay will recognize that Acceptance scan as proof that you mailed the package. That's important, and is not an optional step for them; they are required to scan the package when they accept it.

Yes, I bought the postage at the post office at that time and manually entered the numbers.

They have not affected my seller rating at all,  (or maybe it has but that is not the issue) it just irritates me that they are from so long ago.

I have been selling for years and I am not sure if the 8 were from a glitch at that time or eBay just thinks its fun for them to be hanging around that long. It's just one of the little irritating things that bugs me. Perhaps it is just that I am old and cranky in this heat and humidity. I have been in business for 50+ years both online and in B & M.

Are you able to post a screenshot? If it's from 2-3 years ago as you said, you would not have visibility to it anywhere.

eBay will only show stats from last 3 mos for "tracking uploaded on time and validated" and for last 12 mo for "late shipping."

If it's unclear, perhaps you missed the part that the tracking numbers were uploaded to eBay and never acknowledged. Or, as the package moved along, it was never scanned again. After it leaves here, it's scanned, from there on, whether eBay not acknowledging the uploaded tracking number or it is never scanned again, it is not up to me to make sure every scan and upload is acknowledged.

Confusion happens when it is the written word and not an actual conversation.

I had to manually upload the tracking number to eBay when I got home from the post office. I was paying postage at the window at that time. Long personal story for this method which has no bearing on the issue.

OK, you're buying postage at USPS, I'm out, I haven't done that in decades so, IDK, but it should def work, I've had to manually add tracking on rare occasions & never had a problem.  My DH is from RURAL, southern MN & yeah it's a trip going back there.  13 churches & 1 bar.  Also, while there IS a PO, you have to go & get your mail from it!  FR.   Fascinating how different it is.  I thought my city of 500K was tiny (almost a mil now) & DH had 77 in his graduating class & that's only b/c they moved to "town" - said town of 13 churches & 1 bar LOL.

No,  I didn't miss that.  I had no clue what kind of acknowledgement you were expecting.   There is no acknowledgment.  You type it in or c/p it & the system accepts it.  You don't get any acknowledgment.

Expect that my DH is from rural MN, so it's funny to read b/c I could totally see all of this in his tiny town.

I was in a funk at that time from my son's death and my husband's sudden death and two brothers and a MIL all dying around the same time. I just packaged things up and bought postage at the post office. Then I became ill and I need ongoing IV treatments for the rest of my life now, so there was that problem. Sometimes, life just got to be too much within those two years. I didn't want to weigh or measure packages, I just wanted the stuff gone. I know others will tell how they soldiered through tragedies but I was devastated and maybe not as strong as others.

Everything was mailed and uploaded in time with everything scanned at the post office. eBay just never recognized the tracking uploads and I talked to someone at CS who would 'take care of it'. I learned later that was worthless.
