Scan form success story --the one they said couldn't happen

Maybe this only works if you took the step of starting a Missing Package search and then waited 2 weeks with nothing happening, as I did with this package.  But anyway, apparently it's NOT true that the USPS will necessarily deny an insurance claim if the package got only a "received" or "picked up" scan, no 'accepted' scan.

I also have a (fuzzy, maybe false) memory of someone saying that even if the USPS pays an insurance claim, they don't refund your label purchase.  I feel like I remember being outraged at the idea of that, considering that's the money you paid for THE service that they obviously failed to perform (deliver the package).  Anyway here's proof that they do refund the label purchase.  I didn't add extra insurance on this package, so I'm just getting the $100 max for a Priority item, plus the $8.10 I paid for the Small Flat Rate Box label.

Now it's just a matter of seeing how ironically long it takes for the paper check to be delivered to me.  ðŸ˜†

USPS has paid shipping if lost but not if damaged claim, at least with me. But I haven't file a claim since beginning of the year since they jack the price on tube boxes, I don't ship fishing rods thru them anymore. But here's a reel they shipped my customer got today. In 16+ years I've never had a fishing reel crushed before.s-l1600.jpg

LOL, is that one crushed?  I guess a 'before' picture would help. Anyway sorry for your loss.  Are you going to do a damage claim?
Also the differentiation on whether they refund the shipping label --what you're saying makes sense.  A damaged delivered item is still a delivered item.  Buuuuut then again, if they're willing to pay a damaged claim then they're taking responsibility for not delivering the item SAFELY, which in my book is also what you paid for with the shipping label.  Oh well.  I wonder what they do in the case of an empty (shredded) box/envelope being delivered.  Do you know?

Just image the handle being straight, even bent the drag wheel(gold one under the handle). I don't insure anything under $50, I sell thousands of reels and fishing lures a year 1st class, just not cost efficient to just cover 1 or 2 broken items. Not sure what they cover when the its shredded and missing, I've only had like 2 that way in 10 yrs and they weren't insured, I just write them off. I shipped fishing rods up to April, then they added a $15 surcharge and that ended, but when they did broke the rod(always priority mail) it was like pulling teeth to get a claim paid. On average 2-4 months to get paid, plus your buyer has to take up to get inspected(which their already mad). I just started using UPS, they broke one rod out of 30 so far, only took a week and they also paid for the shipping.

What did you submit to the USPS as proof of value for your claim?  I mean, what particular Ebay pages did you screenshot to submit?  I only ask because I thought there was an issue with the USPS not recognizing Ebay managed payments as a valid payment processor or something of that nature.

I took a screenshot of the Order page.   I can't guess why the USPS would think it has any reason to consider the payment processor.  The fact is the buyer paid for an item (which the Order page shows) but they didn't receive it (which the tracking history shows).

Awesome! That may or may not be lucky on your part! We haven't had a single one of those approved and they use the reason of no acceptance scan to justify it. Congrats! 🙂

Looks like they've now approved BOTH of the claims I filed, on lost packages that had no acceptance scan (that was a messed up week, and I've very happy they're taking responsibility for it).

Wow the 2 checks came surprisingly FAST!!  And look how I mangled them open. --I literally had a shutoff notice for today, so I uploaded these to my bank account lightening fast via mobile check upload, and paid the bill just in the nick, LOL!
