If these boards are representative of the ebay experience, sellers are FAR more likely than buyers to get scammed.
Yet, the vast majority of scam settlements go to BUYERS.
I'm not a math major, but statistically, that's impossible.
ebay...get fair, or get out.

I heard it's like 65/35 statistically

Well it is a horrible problem. And it's scary as a seller to think that at any given time, you could be selling your item to someone who fully intends to get it for free and if they are clever enough, they will succeed.
As someone who deals in electronics which are far more likely to be scammed than other categories on here, I take solace in the fact that I know for each such scam reported on here, there were 999 other successful sales that were not scams.
Not quoting any specific statistics, but the fact remains that you really only hear from people who have a problem, you don't see the other 999 people coming here saying how pleasant their transaction was (either as a buyer, or a seller).

The vast majority of people don't come to the boards to share a good story. So these boards are NOT a good indication of scams.

Wouldn't buyers go to the buyers board to complain about getting burnt?

I have to agree the scams against buyers sellers are a BIG problem. The echeck confusion for a new seller seems to big the biggest but I think that the international SNAD will be next.
Who is going to accept a SNAD with huge postage return costs.

Nope. I got your point, even more than you think.

I appreciate your "never having sold anything on ebay" viewpoint.
And I appreciate your “clueless about posting IDs” viewpoint.

It just boils down to bargaining power. Sellers are more dependent on the platform, and if you leave some other sellers can easily fill the void. Buyers on the hand, each one only needs maybe 1 widget, they aren't going to buy two just because one goes to a different platform. They only need 1 widget, so they'll pick one place to buy, sellers will sell anywhere they can eek out a minimum profit.
The platforms realized this, that is why their policies favor buyers as much as they think is just bearable for sellers.

Your "posting ID" shows 6 purchases...NOT ZERO like a posting ID.
I apologize.
