How do you spot scammers here on ebay there is so many of them they keep trying to get me to email them separately from the ebay message center and I refuse. Are there any tips on spotting them and reporting them. Ebay should protect their sellers better. Thanks

A very good question but sorry to say there isn't likely an answer. Often when we figure out one scam they just come up with another. But you are way ahead of many as you are smart enough to know to keep your communication with a buyer inside of Ebay. A buyer wanting you to do differently is absolutely going to try and scam you out of your product or your money or both.
Seems to me you have a pretty good radar yourself. That will put you ahead of the game to be sure. Just remember that most buyers are good honest people, it is the few that are here to take advantage of us whenever they can.
Now there are some categories that are more problematic than others. But you don't seem to be selling in one of those.
I hope everything works out for you and you have much success as a seller.

1)People who offer you way more than what you have the item priced at.
2) Anybody asking you to communicate outside of the ebay messaging system.
3) Anybody asking you to ship to a different address that is not the address recorded on ebay with your shipping info, AND they refuse to change the address on the account. Do not mail merchandise ever to a different address than what is recorded on the account.

In number 3 I think that can be much easier. Only EVER ship to the address that appears on the payment you receive. No exceptions. Even if the buyer notifies you via email of a different address. If you ship to a different address, then the seller loses their Seller protections on Ebay.
The address that is on the buyer's account can be different from the ship to address. The two do not have to match. For example I might purchase something and have it directly shipped to my daughter, mother, friend, etc. I do not have to change my "address of record" each time.
Buyers can type in a delivery address at the time they make payment or they can select one from ship to addresses they have loaded into Ebay. In our site preferences we can set up multiple ship to addresses if we want to. It isn't required, but you can do it if you want.

How do you suppose eBay can protect their sellers better?
eBay doesn't read messages sent to you. Isn't up to you to figure out contact outside of eBay is a no no?

As soon as a prospective buyer asks you to converse outside of eBay - you know it is scam. eBay protects seller's by making this knowledge available to all seller's who read the TOS and policies.

Spotting scammers on ebay is just like spotting bad people in real life.
