Scammers

New to the eBay platform. I've been posting items for sale for only about 1 month now and I haven't had much success. I've had several offers and, when I accept them, they turn out to be scammers requesting personal contact info. I politely inform them that I will gladly answer any questions they have or provide additional photos through eBay's email but they never respond or pay for the item and then the account disappears. I'm stuck with reposting the item and waiting for the next scammer. Are there any real buyers out there? How can I prevent this from happening?

You need to do some buying and/or sell some low $$$ stuff to get your feedback a little higher.

These scammers see that you're new to this and think they can take advantage of you.

You were smart in making them go through eBay's message system and not taken outside of eBay.

Good luck to you

There are real buyers out there. You can cut down on the headaches by listing fixed price and ticking the 'Immediate Payment Required' box in the listing. Stay vigilant and good luck to you.

Do not even reply to those requesting personally info. Just report them to ebay as in violation of policies. Be sure to add them to your blocked bidders list immediately. I would remove your more expensive items as those are the most likely to be scammed until you have more experience. Do not except ridiculous high offers or low ball offers; they are the most likely to be scammers and/or a headache after the sale and delivery.

There are a lot of real buyers on ebay.  You need to list more items and block the scammers.   Get rid of Best Offers and list with immediate payment required.

Unfortunately, new sellers are targeted by these scammers.

One simple solution is to lower your price instead of accepting the offers. That way, if they do not pay for the item the listing is still available for everyone else.
