Scammers report option request

I was selling a pair of jeans. Many scammers sent PayPal services email to me without paying through eBay. I canceled all their orders from the scammers. But the problem is that there is no scammers option in reason for canceling order. I chose “buyer asked to cancel”. So eBay was asking buyer(scammers) to confirm to be canceled. They never reply. So my item cancellation is still pending until now. This is very annoying. eBay need to add a option for scammers report and need to take care sellers.

You shouldnt have cancelled the orders, you should have filed a non paying bidder case. Its too late now.

Sorry, but what is "PayPal services email?" Is that some kind of ordering feature? I've never heard of it . . . Or do you just mean some kind of emailing/messaging feature?

How can someone order through PayPal?

I thought you said earlier that the "scammers" didn't pay through eBay? How can you cancel an order on eBay if the "scammers" didn't pay through eBay?

I think either you or your written description of the events are confused. Please provide a more clear explanation of what happened.

If you "officially" accepted a best offer, and subsequently found out that it was a just a "text me" scammer, you can file the "Unpaid Item Report" which takes some days to complete.  Obviously, getting a fake payment notification is NOT being paid.

Though I am not certain, since there is no "scammer choice" in the cancellation menu, you MAY get by with "problem with the buyer's address" to hurry things along since that does not involve delays nor seller penalties.  Please get clarification on this, however, should this happen to you again.

"Buyer asked to cancel" is not the appropriate selection.

Never text or email outside ebay if asked by a buyer.  These people are not customers, they are criminals.

eBay does not offer non-payment as a reason for a cancellation because the proper response to an unpaid item is an unpaid item dispute.

IMHO eBay does not need to change their system, you simply need to learn how to use eBay properly.

I think the OP "accepted" a formal offer though the regular BO flow.  Subsequently, the person making that offer was a "text me" scammer  There would be a recorded sale on ebay, and likely a phony payment notification from the Pal.

akhi-5206,

you are a new seller at risk of scammers and at risk from yourself.

I don't mean this in a condescending way, but you really should study and familiarize yourself with ebay policies and protocols before you get into deeper trouble.

You have a thousand dollar item for sale and you could easily lose that if you ran into more scammers, which you probably will. There are many tricks scammers use to fool you.

I don't know what you mean by "PayPal services email" but it seems that maybe you are being sent spoofed emails.

When you are not paid, after a couple of days you go to the resolution center and check

"I sold an item.
-I haven't received my payment yet."

https://resolutioncenter.ebay.com/

That will start the process.

Cancelling a sale the way you are doing it is improper and messy and ends up costing you money in fees even when you don't sell the item, and it can put your account in jeopardy.

If you do sell an item, you should log into your paypal account to see if payment is there. Do not sign in from emails and don't rely on emails for anything.

Study!

I suspect that's an example of the fake PayPal payment notifications that a newbie seller might receive, directing him to ship the item and upload its tracking number (somewhere) before the funds will be deposited in his account. Needless to say, no payment was actually made, and no funds will ever appear.

In this particular case, I don't think a "text me" scammer was involved, just one who's trying to fool the seller into shipping without payment.

.............general reply...............

I am tired of new sellers coming on here and talking about canceling.

I feel like asking them "who told you to cancel"   nobody on here really ever recomends that.I have plenty of unpaid auctions and I just do not use the cancel button.I use the dispute console to file for UPI or a NPB.

I am not faulting the OP but this misinformation about canceling has to be coming from somehwere,it must be the internet.......................its bad info.

please please please new sellers............learn how to file an unpaid item and use your blocks, they really do work

Instead of making recommendations to eBay about how to run their business, you should lean more about how they run it.

When a buyer doesn't pay (whether or not they send you a fake scammy email about payment) you should NOT cancel the transaction. You should file an unpaid item claim.  Canceling a transaction is not the right strategy; that's why eBay doesn't offer "scam" as a reason for canceling.
