Did you mean:

Scammed for the first and last time

I am not a wealthy fellow, I started selling off my collection and made a decent profit but meager amount compared to most of you probably. I had someone today claim the item I sent was fake; I accepted the return but I feel like I am getting screwed over here. I was just here trying to make some money to buy a used car, I guess I will have to find another way to pick up the slack.

I wan't to thank the honest buyers though. Seeing good feedback and knowing something that brought me a little bit of joy is now giving someone else joy was a really good feeling. I felt like I found my place and purpose. I never complained about the fees in my mind or selling things for less than they are worth. But I am not going to let people rob me. I am not a major merchant that can afford to take hits.

I hope all you honest buyers and sellers including myself can find a platform that isn't apathetic and lop sided. I don't think personally I will ever sell anything online again unless I know the platform is 100% behind me if I am in the right. This experience has really taught me a lot about my own capabilities and helped me improve myself even.

Farewell ebayers.

Re: Scammed for the first and last time

Returns are a fact of life for all online sellers.  They are going to happen, it is part of doing business online.  This is something you need to be prepared for.

You didn't share with us how you were "scammed".  How did the buyer scam you?  If the buyer returned the item to you, that is not a scam at all.  You now have the item back and you are free to sell it again if you choose.

To be scammed, the buyer would have had to of MADE money off you.  If they did, what did they do?

I do realize you are out the shipping to and from, but that again isn't the buyer scamming you as they make no money from that process at all.

Re: Scammed for the first and last time

Honestly, I don't know yet but we will see, I just got a feeling. I don't mind returns all though I have never had them because I deal with certain crowd usually who are specific collectors. I just needed to vent. If everything is okay I am still going to be wary but operate in a different manner. Maybe my post was made out of rashness. I don't wan't to discuss it fully as the fat lady hasn't sang yet and I do wan't to respect all buyers privacy. If it does go the way I think it's going I will just eat the loss or deal in small claims court.

I do know that 'fake' is not infrequently just an end-run around a no-return policy.

Yea and the way the return request was worded, just threw out flags to me. I know the where the item was bought and it's just an impossibility that the item is fake, maybe that had buyers remorse; only time will tell now.

It is just likely they wanted to make sure you'd be paying for the return shipping.

Wait to see what the buyer sends back. If you get back the original item in the same condition then the only thing you're being screwed on is the shipping.

If the buyer sends back something different come back here before you take further action.

What's the value of the item and how much was shipping? Look at the buyer's feedback left for others - do you see a recent pattern of red flags there?
