Hi All. I sold a group / lot of PSA graded Pokemon Cards back in early May. One month later, I received a notification that the buyer has initiated a claim with his credit card company against me stating that the item was not as described. The fact that the cards were in slabs and professionally graded pretty much removed any opinions that I may have had - as I only listed it with the information on the slabs. There is no way for me to misrepresent the graded card. Either way, the buyer never reached out to me. I have tried to connect with the buyer many times and he will not respond. The credit card company ruled in favor of the buyer and has reimbursed the buyer and the buyer still has the cards in his possession. eBay has frozen the funds in my account as a result... so I am out several hundred dollars. I am told that this is a seller's condition that is not covered by their protection policy. This is a crime that this buyer has committed and it seems there is no relief for me as a seller ? Any thoughts or help would be appreciated.

It can take up to a month before these chargebacks get resolved.

Yes - it is gut wrenching. It is fraud and is criminal but all the people I speak with in the phone from eBay tell me there is nothing that can be done. My question remains- what details did the CC company provide when they responded back to eBay.. they will not tell me that. You would think that I should have an opportunity for I appeal and to understand why the CC ruled as they did. eBay also tells me that they will not go back to the CC company to let them know buyer will not respond to requests to return the cards

Yes, they do dispute the chargebacks as far as I know when they can. The OP has his funds on temporary hold until the chargeback is resolved. It can take up to a month for this stuff.

I agree with you - but it sure seems like eBay needs to play catch-up with the way they protect their community.

Yes, Ebay cannot force them to do anything. The CC company can make the decision to have the customer return the merchandise.

eBay will not divulge who the CC company is and it sounds like they will not go back to them on my behalf. Seems like a huge gap they eBay needs to close fast- this is very scary. Especially for sellers who are selling higher priced items.

I just went straight to a page on the internet discussing how chargebacks are handled when they are handled well. You need tracking info in the rebuttal that MP will provide, pictures of the item in question, proof that this buyer has NOT attempted to send this item back. Ebay MP then does this rebuttal to the CC company with this info. This is how it is supposed to work folks on here with chargebacks.

What you are going thru is one of the risks of online selling. If the buyer had opened a Not As Described case on eBay, there is also no seller protection, even if the buyer commits fraud. Very sorry this happened to you.

PP never divulged info on the CC companies either so that’s nothing new. Ebay MP has to represent you in this matter.

Hi - Maybe contact the FBI & ride their backs until they do something for you.

Who are you talking to at ebay. If you are on the phone with one of their regular customer support people they cannot be as specific. You must connect to a Managed Payments Person and ask for that department.

For this reason I have taken down my high dollar items. I am sure I can find some one to buy the Diamonds of my stock going to a B$M store. I will only post the rocks Until ebay fixes their policy. As far as I am concerned ebay has lost lots of money on me not listing my big dollar coins. It dont bother me at all. Sorry ebay for your loss.

Paypal fights charge backs for sellers and eBay doesn't should tell you your next move is a Police report along with contacting eBay and the New Channels Buyers have it made ever since they don't have to prove themself through Paypal lol

So where are you quoting this that Ebay does not fight chargebacks? How do you know this to be true?

That’s certainly depressing. Sigh.
