I really need some advice here. I don't sell much on EBAY, although I buy quite often. So I sold a camera a couple of weeks ago. The buyer paid quickly and I sent it off. I tracked it and it arrived on a Friday. The following Tuesday I get a message from the buyer that the camera was damaged in shipping and would I give him a partial refund. He sent photos of a camera that I do not believe is the one I sent him. The strap had been removed and also the winding crank. I thought this was strange.
I called EBAY and asked what to do. They said I should agree to have the camera sent back and, if it was not the camera I sold him, they would get involved. So, EBAY sent him a shipping label and he had a week to send it back. I messaged him and told him that if the serial number on the camera matched the one I sent him, I would refund his money. He did not respond. The time passed and the case was closed due to inactivity.
I just got a message from the buyer yesterday saying that he has shipped the camera back. I am convinced this is either not he camera I sent him OR he damaged the camera I sent him and states that it was damaged in shipping. When the camera was shipped, it was in a padded camera bag wrapped in bubble wrap. You could have dropped it off a building and it would have been fine. I asked him to send me photos of the damaged shipping box and he did not respond.
I don't know what to do at this point. I've been on EBAY for 23 years and I've NEVER had anything like this happen.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
