Scam bids? Someone won my item for 5x what its worth

A couple of people bid up my pc and won it for 700-800 more  than what its worth? Clearly have no intention on paying, whats the endgame here?

I am assuming this is the Quad Core Custom Built Gaming PC. Possibly a couple of sport bidders or bidders that are/were not quite sure what they were bidding on.

If the winning bidder does not pay in 4 days easy to simply cancel for non-payment and relist.

I would be a bitmore  concerned with the second case where the buyer overpaid for the item simply because they did not know what they were buying or they are getting ready to scam you. This would seem like a high potential return with the buyer probably using NAD. The item is used and if the $1K+ they paid is in fact 5x times what the current market value is something is probably wrong.

If they pay you ship. If they don't

Sport bidding, in this case, or a scammer who was interrupted before he could send a fake payment notification, because your winning "bidder" has already been removed and is Not A Registered User anymore.

If you are determined to sell that here, list it as Fixed Price for whatever you want to get, with no Make Offer, and with the Immediate Payment Required option selected (which is found in the Payments area of the listing form). That way no one can snatch your item off the market without actually paying you for it first.

The buyer has 4 days to pay.

DO NOT SEND A INVOICE OR PAYMENT REMINDER.

Just let the 4 days pass.

On the 5th day cancel the transaction. Reason: Buyer did not pay.

The buyer will receive a strike.

Two of these strikes against the buyer and sellers can block this buyer.

Relist the item.

Good luck!

Agree with removing the OBO but OP has sold a number of these on auction at various prices and all with multiple bids. If all previous sales have been completed without any problems auction format may be best option for this item. Seems to be a wide price range for the previous sales and OP seems to be doing pretty well using the auction format. Sure there is always the risk of non-payment but there are risks with anything a seller lists on eBay.

Yes I have sold 5 or 6 of these in a row, and all have either requested cancel within 10minutes or have gone for way more than its worth and ultimately not paid.

I know how to file a non paying bidder case..

My question is what is the endgame of these people doing this?

You will go crazy trying to guess what a handful of buyers out of 150 million are thinking.

But here are a couple ideas:

1) They bid a high amount on a lot of auctions, and when those auctions end they decide whether the final price makes it worthwhile for them to buy it and resell it. So in other words, they overbid every auction and only pay for the ones that end up being bargains.

2) They bid with no intention of paying, and hope that they can trick you into shipping the item before they pay for it. They probably bid on lots of auctions that way,  but only focus on the ones where the sellers send a message or an invoice right away - i.e. the sellers who seems super-naive and super-excited to have gotten a sale who are usually gullible scam targets.

3) They are competitors and just want  your item to be overpriced, so the real buyers will bid on their stuff.
