I recently sold an item on Ebay. They left me a negative feedback within a few days of receiving it. They said it was damaged and I didn't put it in the description. I didn't notice any damage to it. I told them to ship it back to me for a full refund. They said it would be a waste of time. They shipped it to a seller that does consignments. The only options are: Wait till August to see the damage or give them a partial refund to remove the negative feedback without seeing the damage. What should I do Thanks

They need to return it to you for a refund. No waiting until August. I wouldn't worry about the feedback, that can be dealt with.

Unless the buyer returns the item to you, I wouldn’t refund them anything since it sounds like the item is no longer in their possession.
This is what I don’t get …Why would you need to wait until August to see the damage?
I wouldn’t refund to remove negative feedback either it makes you sound like you’re trying to buy positive feedback. It is their opinion of the transaction.
I would move on and forget about it.

Even if you issue a refund and even if the buyer "promised" to revise the feedback, there's no way to make the buyer do it.

FWIW, listing your items as "private" doesn't help your case. It looks like you're either hiding something in the condition or hiding something in the bidding patterns in auction listings.
IMO, there's no valid reason for private listings in the types of items you sell.
If I saw a listing like that, I'd hit the back button.

Sounds like the "old partial refund" game. No photo of damage....no bill of fixing it from consignments. Well,
you already got the feedback. Did they ask for a partial refund in order to change the feedback? That's a no-no on eBay. Waiting till August? That doesn't make sense. It needs to be returned for a refund soon...Waiting till August they will not be able to receive a refund except maybe a charge back from their credit card. Which is why I wouldn't do a partial refund....they might do a full credit card charge back....plus get an early partial refund...Just my thoughts from selling and buying.

Hello, thanks for the quick response. When I put an item on Ebay, I skip the part where it says "private listing" because I didn't really know about this option. Thanks for the private listing information.

The buyer sent the item to a seller that does consignments. It won't be processed until then.

Is this on an older sale? Not one that happened in the last few days? I ask because the negative on your account appears to be 30+ days old. If that is the case you do not need to take a return on the item over 30 days old.
If it is on this transaction that is older, your response to your buyer should have been much faster. It really is too late to do much on anything about this. Again if it is regarding the listing that left negative feedback.

Did they send a message to you stating they will remove the negative if you give a partial refund? If they did that is feedback extortion, contact eBay about it and they will probably remove that negative.

”The only options are: Wait till August to see the damage or give them a partial refund to remove the negative feedback without seeing the damage. What should I do Thanks”
Who says they are your only options?
If the buyer is suggesting a partial refund to revise the feedback, that is against eBay’s Feedback Manipulation policy, see link below. Or is it your idea to give a partial refund in hopes the buyer will revise?

@fashunu4eeuh This transaction has to be over 30 days old because the feedback is.
