For some reason this eBay user has taken to "buying" a piece pf merchandise, then letting the clock run out until the order is cancelled. Yes, I am the idiot who did not recognize the buyer WHEN THEY DID IT AGAIN!
Two times in 30 days. eBay "said", per quick popups when I cancelled the 1st order due to non-payment, they would "take care of it". Three weeks later, I was not paying attention to buyer names, I saw a reasonable offer and accepted. Same buyer just did the exact same thing to me. This time, before the clock ran out, I got an email reply from the buyer (last evening, through eBay) saying "payment will be sent tomorrow". Wrong - eBay automatically cancelled the order.
Why is there no flag system to warn sellers? Why is this buyer account still allowed to be open? If this buyer did it twice to me, how many other times has this been done with no consequences?
Okay, so NBD, these were not diamonds or a car, but I'm just a person trying to sell something on eBay - been here for 21 years, literally. You lose a week, maybe a valid sale, have to start again and relist, just because of a scummy buyer. eBay - you need to do something. We all know the simple rules - you buy something, you pay for it, you sell something, you send it.

Put them on your BBL
Do it today, so they do not buy a 3rd time. (Or use FP with immediate pay for this item for future listings)

They treat it like a game, I am sure. Hope you have added them to your BBL so you will not be bothered by them again.
Also - report them, don't know if it will do much, but it can't hurt.

Thank you - have never sold enough to HAVE a blocked buyers list so I had to find that.
I should have posted the first time it happened, your answer would have saved another week's aggravation.
I have already reported the buyer. Never thought I would need to ask for immediate payment, frankly.
Met so many good people buying/selling over the years - lost my innocence to eBay!

Scam Artist - but not even a good one - TIME WASTER!
Time waster? Yes. Scammer? No.
I suspect that buyers send several offers to several differnt buyers, and accept the bet deal and ignore the rest.
I avoid this by lowering my price to what I am willing to sell it for, and not accepting any offers. That way my item stays listed and is available to anyone willing to pay that price.

If you've been selling for 21 years and this is the first complaint you have about anyone then I am very impressed.
Hope your luck continues!

Just for quick reference:
Also, regarding how to "ask for" immediate payment, that is actually a checkbox option that you need to select on the listing form (near the payments area, possibly not seen on the Express version).
Once the checkbox has been marked, a buyer cannot snatch your Fixed Price item off the market without actually paying you for it first. The Immediate Payment Required option cannot be applied to auctions or Make Offer deals, only for Fixed Price.

Well... I'd send you a copy of mine, but eBay messaging surely doesn't allow for that many characters in one message. 😂
