Same computer. Two different accounts. Can't log in!!

I have a sister staying with me now and we both have Seller accounts on Ebay. She tries to log in on my computer to check her listings but always gets a message: OOPS not a match. She is entering her info correctly though. I have cleared my cookies, unchecked Stay Signed IN, had her use three different browsers, and still cannot get logged on.  We used to be able to do this. What the heck is going on? Two different people should be able to use one computer to do their Ebay account.

Use a different browser for each and it should work.

I use different browsers to log in to multiple accounts and I can log into different eBay sites (.ca, .uk, .au etc) under different id's all at the same time.

What I can't do is log into different accounts using one browser for different accounts on the same eBay site.

You should be able to use Chrome for one id and FireFox for another id.

Just a warning for you, if your account of your sisters account are ever suspended eBay may be able to see that both accounts are "connected" and when one is suspended the other one will be as well.

This happened to me years ago when one of my employees got suspended and he had used on of my office computers to access his personal account.

I'm sure you and your sister are not likely to do anything that would result in a suspension but it's something you should be aware of.

If you sign out of your account on eBay, can she sign in?  If she can't then she is either entering the wrong username of password.

Thank you; no we do not do anything that would cause a suspension. I have a Mac and use Safari for my Ebay, I also use Firefox for my daughter's account.  So, after trying both of them for my sister, I tried Chrome that has no Ebay accounts. Still would not work. The username and password are entered correctly, but still get the OOPS message. It is very frustrating. I emailed Ebay to ask but I doubt I will get much help.

I thought using a different browser would work...it does not.

I can't get into my small clearance store ID account through Edge - I get the same Oops! when I know my ID and PW are correct.  I thought it was me - some setting off in my browser or something.

Not much help, I know, but you're not the only one having this problem.  Shifting to Firefox on a different computer worked. I'm wondering now, though, what's up with that.

Has she tried the forgotten password option? At worst, she could get a new password emailed to her address and see if that gets her in...?

I'm using Chrome on a Windows 10 desktop, and routinely accessing multiple eBay accounts, bank accounts, etc., with no overlap issues. The only thing I can think of is that the password is case-sensitive; I assume you don't have the CapsLock stuck on or anything like that...

Rather than signing in and out for different accounts, try different browsers such as Firefox, Firefox Nightly, Firefox Developer, Opera, Avast Secure Browser, Brave, Chrome, Chrome Beta. Or else try a private or incognito browser window.

Here are some updated recommendations to try if you are encountering sign-in problems or verification problems.

How are you signing in? Using a bookmark? If so, you may need to update it.

If you go to the ebay.com page and use the sign-in link it will send you here:

https://signin.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?SignIn

Almost all of the sign-in links I have seen send you to the same page, or an alternate page that looks the same:

https://signin.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?SignIn2

or possibly this:

https://www.ebay.com/signin/?sgn=reg&siteid=0

Try each of those links to see if one of these links works better for you if you are having difficulty signing in; if so, bookmark whichever link works best for future use and please follow up to let others know, as many other users are having difficulty signing in recently.

Do not give up immediately if you get a second verification page, in some cases you may need to get through two puzzle sliders or a puzzle plus one or two obfuscated number entries to sign in.

Other things that can interfere with signing in:

Sometimes when eBay changes the sign-in process, it causes problems for some users; sometimes those problems are due to using an old browser or obsolete cookies (though not always). Some users are just annoyed by verification; while others actually get stuck in a loop that just keeps presenting new sign-in pages or new verification pages, or just will not let them sign in at all.

Make sure you are allowing the sign-in page to load completely before attempting to sign in -- users have indicated that attempting to sign in before the page has loaded can cause problems.

Make sure your browser is set to accept cookies. Try another browser or another device, or a private or incognito browser session. If you delete your cookies, you will likely have to sign in and go through strict verification again, but if you have problems with a blocked or corrupt cookie, manually deleting your eBay cookies can help. Some browsers seem to require more verification than others; try signing in and out more than once to see if it requires verification the second time around.

Make sure your browser has javascript enabled:

https://www.whatismybrowser.com/detect/is-javascript-enabled

VPNs can also cause sign-in issues, so try disabling yours if you use one and are encountering problems.

If you get a verification slider puzzle that has no background, there are three options below the slider -- close the pop-up, reload the pop-up, or try an alternative audio version that requires entering numbers that are read aloud.

If you are able to sign in, to stay signed in there is a "keep me signed in" checkbox on the sign-in page, but there is another checkbox in your account site preferences -- it might be worth checking that setting, or unchecking, saving, rechecking and saving again. That is, if you want to stay signed in and avoid having to go through verification.

A private or incognito browser session is handy if you just need to check another account without signing out of your current account.

If you have successfully signed in using Google or Facebook before, try that again -- the sign in process using those may have different dependencies and may work better for you. But if you have not signed in using those before make sure you do not accidentally create a new eBay account when you attempt to sign in.

If you get really stuck, try signing in to ebay.ca or ebay.co.uk or using the eBay app on your phone -- that may allow you to do most non-listing or non-selling related activities.

One other thing that can cause sign-in issues: a sticky keyboard key.

I once found that one particular key did not work with one of the shift keys -- that combination would provide the unshifted result; ordinarily not a problem except that key combination was part of one password, and caused me to get locked out of an account.

Saved usernames and passwords in browsers can sometimes be accidentally updated with bad info, so if a saved password combination fails, try entering it manually -- after checking that the keyboard works.

Got me baffled. I have 8 accounts and have no problem switching between the them.

Hopefully this isn't it, but maybe someone has gotten hold of her username and password, stolen her account, and changed her password.

"Hopefully this isn't it, but maybe someone has gotten hold of her username and password, stolen her account, and changed her password."

I was having the same  bad thought.   seeing you can sign in on your account, I would do advanced search for items listed by your sister id and make sure everything listed is actually her stuff and not a scammer took her account over.  yes, she won't be able to do anything there with her account but it could give you both  a piece of mind knowing if her account was taken over by someone else.

I basicly do the same thing when I am in a public place and want to see if how one of my id's is doing. I will go to ebay as a guest and then do an advance search and look up items for sale by whatever id I want to check and I can see if anything sold or how my auctions are doing.  I never sign in to my accounts in public,

you don't even need to do an advance search for her id either. Sometimes I just put an item in I know I can find right away and then just use see sellers other items link in the listings. this helps me make sure everything comes up and I don't have a problem with any of my listings.

I know doesn't help with her signing in problem but I am not sure what is wrong there.  good luck and hope you both can figure it out what went haywire.
