Only get 1000 Fix price per month so nautrally not going to leave items GTC past 30 days if not sold end before relist. My Sales died when moved everything GTC. If doesn't change by end of billing Cycle will be closing store. Thank god I decided a few months ago to set up Locally. Got a booth every weekend I work always sell postive dollars every weekend.

I don't know what's going on but sales are bad here too. The weekends from Friday to Sun have always been good ,, but seems something has happened to change that. Tulips

eBay greed is to blame imho. the more you pay the higher you rank in search results.

I'm becoming more and more convinced that GTC has indirectly destroyed sales .. Sales began to take a nosedive as soon as they began it . I think it messed up something . Tulips

I don't sell for a living. I have a full time job so I sell just to buy what I want. I never have more than 45 listings at a time and haven't yet had to pay any listing fees even when a listing ends because it just gets relisted and the available free listings, as part of my 50 free listing a month, takes care of the listing fees. I average about 3 sales a week. I then list the amount of products I sold.
I feel sorry for sellers that are doing this for a living. I think that I've always used GTC for my listings so I really don't think that is at play here. I think the implementation of sales tax is what is driving down sales and that is what politicians and the Chamber of Commerce wanted. They want to drive traffic to physical stores and make it as unprofitable for buyers to purchase online as they can. I really think that when shoppers are checking out and get hit with tax it is making them pause and rethink their purchase.
I still think online has better prices than physical stores and it will just take time for the consumer to realize that even with the implementation of tax added to their purchase they will still be better off shopping online than at a physical location. Besides the benefit of lower costs, they will also save on gas (if they drive), not have to deal with crowds, and even be safer. What can be better than to make your purchase from the safety of your own home?
Don't give up hope. Things might still turn around for you yet.

Per the 1st quarter investor conference call the site has made a big cut back in advertising. That plus all the new extra fees allowed for record profits even while sales for sellers (GMV) were down from a year ago. Higher costs, declining sales. No mention at all of how site sales (GMV) will actually increase going forward. Apparently they think that's a sustainable long term business model.

And I believe they will find out otherwise at the next quarterly earnings report!

I'm sorry to hear that sales are down for you. I've been selling on ebay for nearly 20 years. For me things keep getting better each year. This year i'm having a record year. I'm not trying to "blame" anyone for your low sales. Nor do i know the magic formula you need to increase sales. If i did i would gladly share it with you.
Just keep in mind that there are sellers out there like myself that are doing well. Call it luck? I dunno?
Good luck to you. I hope things pick up for you.
Aloha!

Well after all ,,, there simply isn't enough money to pay for advertising when the execs keep lavishing themselves with more of the profits . It's sort of like how Congress does with voting for higher salaries but for only themselves. Tulips

You are so true. The GTC listing. Makes seller cancel. I canceled 10 listings yesterday. The wrench is plain and simple. If a buyer see a low ball price on a item that has gained 7 or more watchers in a short period for instance. Now it is set up for 30 days as before. Buyers know the item may not relist and will buy. Now the way it is set up the buyer just see it will never end so do not buy as fast. I know I use to use this system of 30 day low ball and sell 5 or 6 extra items a month. But instead now just cancel the listing or new not getting listed. I am getting very frustrated with the way e bay dose things to cost its sellers to much TIME. When they first did this I said. OOO Well now e bay's gonna take 8 to 10 hrs of my life just to identifies and cancel one time listings I sold. Now I say sorry I just do not need it that bad. So do not relist. Or just cancel my so called one time stuff. I do wish you all the best. With best wishes on better sales for all. I hope like others say. That e bay really looks to the community to get the answers. Like when turtles fly. lol

My income is basically tourist generated - I have been diversified for years - have online presence on 6 internet site. Have a physical presence as well. Sales are dead everywhere. People are BROKE. Don't you believe the hype that Washington is pumping out. Rents are ridiculous - child care is thru the roof - many now choosing to stay home. Groceries go up every time I shop - do the store think I don't notice? The hotels here are laying off not hiring. Gas is ridiculous. Couple all that with the uncertainty of the future of America - folks are pulling back - a looming recession is scaring them to death. Are we going to war? It's all a mess. Mark my words - it's going to be this way until the next election is over and regardless of what happens it's going to be a long recovery. I'm not panicking yet but I did put my house up for sale. IF it sells I'm not buying another - I'll rent till the next market crash (on the way) and buy low. Think I'm kidding? No one is talking about the foreclosure rate. It's bumping up again. Try this just for kicks.
Google Zillow - put in a search city - just pick one - heck try las vegas. Now don't put in any specs. If you don't zillow will show you the pre-foreclosures - foreclosures and auctions first. I think you might be surprised.

I just read yet another article where research shows 1/4 of people are doing worse since the Great Recession of 2008. Another 1/4 are doing the same. So that leaves 1/2 that are better.
But that's another "fake news" they like to say on here.
