Been on Ebay for 20 years. Sales are the worst they have ever been. What is going on?

But then I talked to some one today who left ebay and sells on other platforms and said sales are great, who can figure this out?! esg-enterprises
I've noticed the same thing . Other selling venues are doing really well so this seems to be a e bay foul up. I sell themed jewelry and when I listed some of it on another venue a few days ago I noticed the items like what I sale were pretty much already sold . Tulips

It doesn't help that so many sellers don't want to combine shipping to save buyers on the shipping rates. On sales where I have the customer paying for shipping and the customer is purchasing more than one item from me I often combine shipping than pass the savings onto the customer. I had one seller tell me he won't do that because the customer then wants a break on the shipping. Well, duh!

Maybe we should put in our ad that this item won't be there forever and will get pulled? Just trying to think of solutions here.

I agree with you about the economy. More people working than ever before is a good thing and one we should be applauding.
Personally, I think it's multiple factors. Shipping costs, sales tax, and GTC rollout. The buyer and the seller are getting hammered right now.
I don't know where you are now selling outside of eBay as you didn't say. But they have to be impacted by shipping costs and taxes too right now.

I have the same views. Promoted listings... But sales are very slow this year. It is the worst year.

Stuff continues to sell in lots, but now I have problems with bidders who either don't pay or want to cancel afterward.
Ebay needs to be more like Proxibid - if I am the winning bidder on one of their auction listings, they charge my CC immediately.

I have 13 unpaid listings, 11 of them from the same buyer with two different accounts. I had to file a non paying bidder two years ago against this same buyer using a third account. He eventually paid, though.
My guess is this guy bids like crazy, doesn't pay, and gets his account suspended. What's a mystery is how he can use the same address on all these accounts

Ebay is the absolute worst place to sell anything right now. NO ONE is buying anything from eBay at seller prices at the moment; unless its dirt cheap.
Ebay hasn't helped any sellers at all over the past few years and really made it difficult to sell things here. The constant rise in fees and the fact they tend to always side with buyer makes this place an awful platform to sell anything. It is time for a new marketplace.
I pulled all my items off ebay and started to use other platforms. It's helped a lot. For me Ebay is really not a place to sell anymore. I've been selling on ebay for over 20 years now.

My traffic is up 40% over the previous month, and my sales are cut down to practically nothing. What are these buyers doing? Why aren't they buying? ebay did something wrong, that's for sure.
YES, I had no sales in either store for four days and had high % off sales in both . I called eBay and spoke to a rep. She said she would refresh my stores and I would get sales and she would make sure I received A lot of sales ...... say what? I guess they do have an on and off faucet ..... but within hours I received a message from a buyer in one of my accounts that said he received an error message “ some sellers or one seller can’t get paid right now “. So how many buyers where there that walked away and bought elsewhere because of that. Come to find out, eBay’s MP system was blocking me from getting paid until I signed up for ebays MP way prior to the mandatory date. I also noticed when sales slowed that that was the same time I think that eBay really started pushing its “ promoted listings “ for a fee. I fell for it just to gain sales but was being charged Even more fees for it which io me was nothing more than duplicating listings. Gosh, I still scroll past all that to find the best deal.

Yes but it is basically not much different than a payday loan....if your sales are way up your fee's are WAY UP too....I started when the fee's were a nickle and final value fee's were 3.5%.....when you add in boxes bubble wrap, endless hours of looking for something to flip......then your hit with outrageous fee's/fraud....so relieved to be done with flipping. But I still go to some sales and only buy the better things...small so I don't have a whole room dedicated to junk.....AHHHHHHHH will just swap my buys now at some point maybe next year...

Frankly, I don't think delivery times are as critical as some large vendors make them out to be and whats needed is a slower and cheaper delivery method. People are buying tons of Chinesium goods and seem to have no problem waiting 16-30 days to get their items.
That's a very valid point and does make you wonder why we're all busting butt to get it to them in 2 days doesn't it?
Right well all depends on the sale price....
