While a poor personal financial situation can often coincide with a struggling economy, it doesn't necessarily mean that bad personal finances directly translates to a bad economy as a whole; your individual financial situation can be impacted by factors specific to you even when the overall economy is performing well like it is right now.

What I don't understand is sellers who expect their sales to be the same every day/week.
I was at my friend's store yesterday. It was incredibly slow, hardly anyone was coming in. For quite a while it was literally just me and him hanging around.
I came back today and it was jammed. Usually Fridays are the busy day and Saturdays are slower, but for whatever reason this week it was the other way around. Why? Who knows.

Transactions are considered sales regardless of the amount. If you sell a bunch of cheap stuff for like $2 to $5 with free shipping those are considered sales. The problem would be of course not charging enough to make a profit. If all people are purchasing from you are cheap items then you should evaluate your business. Sellers look at sales and find themselves selling bunch of cheap stuff which don't make them any money even after shipping cost and fees. That's just the way it is. Can't say you aren't making sales just the market isn't interested in higher end stuff or they want the higher end stuff for a bargain price.

Yestersay did your friend call his landlord and ask "What's going on?" 😉

Your state of the world address actually proves why a slowdown in sales right now is a major thing for anyone depending on ebay income to pay bills.

IMHO clothing resales are dying from sheer competition. It was never meant to last.

@kaytees-kloset so u consider 355 sales within a 90 day period slow? more power to u!
If their sales are for small dollar items that would be slow.
@movieman630 OP is complaining of slow 'sales' not 'small dollar item sales'
their average selling price is about $40 per item over 355 items sold in the last 90 days

Same is said in the reverse too. Trust me. Things are not great all over and that has translated into people having less expendable income. At least you can be thankful that you happen to have a different experience than most. I too live in an area that most people don't seem to feel the impact, but we notice it in different subtle ways. It's there. And I'm not blind to the plight of the majority of the people who live in the US. I see it.

The irony is that's what most sellers complain about. We're held down to a "certain level" and can't seem to rise above it. We're not saying ever day has to be exactly the same. We're saying it's not organic, it's manipulated. The only time it's organic is when someone buys something off their watch list. The algo can't manipulate that, but if that "watch list purchase" pushes your average up too high, the algo will compensate for that by stifling your visibility for the next days or weeks until that unpredictable sale is factored into and averaged out.
It's not "guaranteed sales" if you have popular items you will always have sales. If they aren't popular sales will be slower. The Algo doesn't guarantee sales. It decides how many sales to allow you to have.

My point was that most people who sell low dollar items see different volume. It's not about them knowing how to make a profit. It's a different business model from someone who sells high dollar items. That's all I was saying. So you saying 300+ sales for them is good may not be what they're used to. They may be used to 3000 sales.

Again, it depends on what volume they've been used to. If that volume was 3500 then 355 would be slow, no?

Well I can fully understand people selling clothes in a saturated market cause when I price them you can buy nice clothes dirt cheap and they are easily available so you do have a huge markup. I have thought about it just because of the big profit margin but I really don't have any more room for anything. Most non selling issues for clothes are traced back to items being overpriced in a saturated genre, the buyers are sure there according to ebay.

@movieman630 Oh, u originally said 'small dollar items' but now are posting 'volume'
so now my post to that is:
yes, that is why i asked the question:
"so u consider 355 sales within a 90 day period slow? "
but no answer so far

The Fact that some sellers constantly deny that ebay has anything to do with slow or no sales, Blows my mind!, There has been numerous posts about manipulation, throttling, hidden listings, worthless PL's unless you spend more!, & the list goes on & on, Stop The Denial!, Their are numerous claims from sellers about all of this, & The same amount denying it!, Sounds like our country & our politics split in two, But there should not be political games being played here!

Well then, we need to light the torches and grab the pitchforks and go march on eBay headquarters.
They need to solve the problems at the border, stop Russia from attacking Ukraine, protect Taiwan and get those hostages back. AND DO IT NOW.
This economy is NOT our fault.
It wasn't us that elected these clowns.
It isn't us that allows these ash hats to remain in their jobs.
It was evil eBay.
