Sales have dropped by a third after ebay changed item specifics and categories

Ever since ebay decided to make senseless changes to categories and item specifics our sales have tumbled. Im waiting to find any one that thinks these changes make sense.  Hopefully ebay realizes these changes will only hurt sellers and buyers all while being very inefficient.

So many categories have free listings or people have free promotions, eBay only makes money when those listings sell.

So when their bottom line is off a third or so, yes, they will probably notice.

The problem is they will come up with some other hairbrained scheme to fix it that only makes it even worse

Strange as it sounds I have ignored all the recent changes and focused on listing and adjusting my prices and postage rates.  The past four days have been very good for me.  Then again I have cut my prices by as much as 80% in the last two weeks to clear inventory.  I think the new store layout is terrible but I'm not spending much time on this message board these days.  Might as well go outside and yell into the night air like the actor did in the movie Network.

Hey great idea I will cut my prices to where I lose a ton of money on everything and then I can say my sales are great too.

I too have begun to ignore all if the item specifics, I have been bulk editing the " do not remind me again" check box and moving listings to Merc... i. Sales have improved since I stopped the " specific" nonsense.

Sometimes I clear out old inventory with 80% off too.  I know what I paid for my items, I may have speculated on a bigger profit, I am not loosing money  I am clearing space.

Exactly.  Some of the wise cracking responses just show they don't have much purchasing acumen.  I still make a profit on most items I mark down 50% or more.  Sourcing is the key to success in this flipping biz.  

If you buy 500 widgets and turn a profit on the first twenty or so it really doesn't matter what you do three years down the road with the remaining 200.  It's all profit but the customers believe they are getting a great deal.
