Well, I was getting ready to say, maybe I was wrong. Maybe ebay was actually right. Maybe this forced GTC is a good thing after all.
I was thrilled! I had my best 2 months ever! 21 sales in 9 weeks! I was over the moon! I'm very small time and rarely have more than 50 items up for sale at a time, so 21 sales in 2 months is amazing to me!
Then, all of a sudden it stopped! I haven't had a single sale since April 21st! Even with 13 of my items "Promoted", I've barely had a single view in the past month! It's like someone slammed the door closed on my store and slapped a padlock on it.
I'm not looking for any advice here, just kvetching. I know others can commiserate. Thanks for listening.

Congrats on your recent success. I know you are not looking for advice but if you get the chance review your eBay categories and item specifics because some of them are changing and although eBay is going to auto change them to what they think is the best new category it is possible eBay will get this wrong some of the time.
Here are a few links to learn more about the changes I mentioned.

You probably reached your hidden selling limit and Ebay throttled you back.
Everyone says use promoted listings at 1% and you will see an immediate bump up in sales.
I did. Nothing happened. I figure I'm already at or close to my hidden limit, and the hidden limit trumps all.
I had a $400+ day last month and it's about to drop off the 30 day rotation. I'll bet good money I'll see a few days of good sales after that happens.

Only 1/4 of buyers leave feedback anymore so not a good indication of sales. I do leave positive feedback for buyers regardless so sometimes looking at feedback left for others can see sales for the month.
Something does seems strange this month with ebay. My sales are down 60%. I looked at the same time last year and its not good. It is almost like a DOOR WAS SLAMMED SHUT on views to my items.

Thanks for that. 95% of my stuff is vintage collectibles, Depression glass, vintage jewelry & antique doo-dads. Looking at the list, I don't think much of my stuff will be affected. But it will be interesting to see, I'm sure!

Sadly you are like MANY other sellers here on eBay whose sales have just dropped off a cliff! I even tried to do some auctions it appears they aren't doing ANY BETTER than my stagnant BIN listings.
Suggestion in MHO be sure to put your "eggs" in many different baskets.

Please provide what facts your have that backs up this claim that you made - sounds like "water cooler" talk a.k.a. conjecture from here.

john - this has been talked about for years and does seem to have some merit. Doesn't matter the amount of items listed or the price points of the items listed - the sold item numbers and sale $$ are pretty consistent - the only time they vary is just before the holidays where I see an uptick in sales as most people do and a downtick right after the holidays and summer.
The vloggers I watch have also commented on their weekly and monthly sales and how the number of items sold and the net profit is pretty much the same. I don't believe in throttling but I do believe there may be something to a consistent selling limit.

and just like clockwork, as the $400 day dropped off the 30 day rotation, I had two days of sales totaling..... $400!
Ebay officials deny throttling and hidden limits exist, but they just look dumb when they do.

My sales have disappeared as well but not sure if GTC is to blame as sales are dead across all platforms I use for selling. I kind of suspect the market is drying up for the vintage china which makes up the bulk of my listings. I am now considering turning over my inventory to a local auction house, get what I can and take a job at McDonald's.
