Sales are still awful! Please turn my store on! Where are the Christmas Sales? Toy seller asking.

It has been almost 48 hours since I've had a sale. I have over $39K listed, 600 items and my sales are down 66% compared to last Oct. It’s getting closer and closer to Christmas and sales are still dismal. Ebay can you PLEASE turn on my store?

And before you look through my items and say it’s my prices, here are my same items selling at HIGHER prices from other sellers some with lower feedback:

My price: $22.50 + $5 shipping

These are just a few, I check prices often, I see people paying more all the time. It's not about price. It’s not about my items, toys sell very well on Ebay.  It’s not about my feedback, my customers are very happy (100% positive). I’m not a drop shipper, those are my pictures (not stock pictures), the items are in a room in my home. I have tried every possible suggestion to get my sales back on track, but since I’m really not in control of when and where I’m seen, these things I’m doing, are for nothing. Just basically beating my head against a wall.

Please Ebay turn my store on and leave it on. I know my sales would do just fine. When being controlled like this there is no way of getting my sales back on track (with the exception of giving my stuff away). This is so frustrating! I pay my fees, I just want to be seen 24/7 in all states.

Don't we all long for the old Ebay, when you could list something and automatically get “real” views or sell your item within 24 hours? It has changed a lot here and not for the better. I used to love Ebay, and I still want to love Ebay, but when my sales are so bad, how can I? I don’t want to leave, I’ve spent too much time setting up my store, I just want it to work for me again. Because right now, with one sale a day, and even worse, days without any sales, it's not working and will put me (and a lot of other sellers) out of business.

And just in case certain individuals come here and want to stir everyone up so that this post gets removed, please don’t engage them. It would be better just to ignore them or just respond with “no thank you”. You know they’ll be here soon. I think it’s much more important for sellers having these problems to be able to voice them, so we can show Ebay how many of us are truly hurting. Maybe someone there will change something, fix something, whatever to bring back our sales??

While I agree that the problem she had was likely related to her internet connection and/or browser, make no mistake Ebay is currently having a great deal of problems.

It is mostly sellers in Fashions and Health & Beauty, but make no mistake, they are serious and extensive.  You may not be aware of them if they aren't directly affecting you.  If you would like more info I can PM you with a couple links to some good threads on them.  There is also some announcements by Ebay on the announcement board.

Yes, I agree with you that there are some glitches for sellers when trying to make listings.

Yes and more.  It isn't just when sellers try to create listings in certain categories.  There is a whole mixed salad of issues that Ebay has acknowledged and has been working on for over 2 or 3 weeks.

The manipulation you are proposing is so completely illegal (not to mention financially counterproductive), that I have a difficult time understanding the folks who insist it exists.

It sure didn't stop Enron or Lehman Brothers or any number of other unscrupulously run companies.

I was really was more focused on processing times, like if someone is chronically slow to process orders that I would guess factor into the algo somewhere. To me that would indicate a seller cant handle volume, natural logical outcome to that would be to downgrade or limit their sales based on that poor performance.

This one I’ll weigh in on.

THERE IS another glitch, though it may be a mobile phone only.

I look at posters listing ALL THE TIME, and buy occasionally: click their ID in a post, click “see listings,” arrive on page 1, browse as desired.

Starting a few days ago, I could NO LONGER GO PAST PAGE 1

Now when I get to the bottom of page 1 and click the “next” arrow, it takes me to “no results found.”

I’m fairly certain (but not positive) I used to get the little page numbers at the bottom - so you could jump to page 5, say - but that’s disappeared.

I’m having the same problem, although I make it to someone’s first page of items. But when I try to go to page 2 of their listings I get a variation on yours.

Really? Who tried in vain?

You DO REALIZE that businesses simply go belly up all the time, right?

Ebay isn’t some magical place that protects small businesses. People forget that, because it’s such an easy entry place to START a small business.

Sales on the west coast at those times are normal, it in no way serves ebay to hold your business down. I strongly suggest you look at your postings, consider 1 day handling and free returns (I sell 100 plus items a day, and can count on one hand the number of issues with the USPS over the past year, and when the issues have come up, buyers have been understanding when I explain the delivery times are set by ebay, not the seller,. Look at my feedback and my postings all my postings are 1 day handling and all but 4 o 5 are free returns (I have very few returns based on buyers abusing the free returns).  I would also suggest diversifying if your sales are that poor. Also, I always research every item I buy (price the item is already selling for on ebay and other websites/stores, number of sellers with the item listed, and number of sales other sellers are showing for the exact same item over the past weeks to months) and then make the decision based on the minimum price and time I am willing to keep the item in stock. Also, my experience has been sale typically go down, the weeks leading up to Back Friday and Cyber Monday and then pick up tremendously through Christmas. Part of the sales slump you are experiencing may also have to do with the new sales tax requirements, especially for cheaper items, if someone can order your item for the same price or nearly the same price from a big box store or Amazon, there really is no reason to buy from ebay if the end price is about the same, when the other sellers offer longer/better return policies (60, 90 days even 6 months to a year in some cases, compared to ebay 30 day returns).
