Re: Sales Stopped after Changed Keywords

@Anonymous- thanks. Follow-up question: user-added item specifics are not looked at by eBay's search engine, but are they looked at by 3rd party search engines like Google, Bing, etc?

Hi @lovtaco0, our search engine actually does review these custom fields. While I can't say with certainty how impactful they would be for third party search engines, this is information that would be available to them and may benefit a seller.

If you put in TWO (or more) words into a keyword then your item will be found ONLY when BOTH words are used.  You will get better hits using only one and allowing the buyer's search terms to combine and find you.  Put Sterling and Silver in separate boxes and it will find your item if EITHER is present.  Put sterling silver and it will only find you if you use BOTH (and exactly in that order.  REALLY hedge your bets and put sterling, silver, and 925 each in a separate box.

@Anonymous- can you please confirm if the above is true for store category keywords? Thanks!

Hi @lovtaco0, thanks for grabbing me on this - these fields are designed to take up to 60 characters worth of keywords each and would not function solely in situations where the buyer used all of the keywords in that field. There are no concerns with our search system linking all the terms in each submission together slight_smile
