I've always felt comfortable selling larger items for pickup at my home because I'm able to see information of buyer - how many stars, feedback, town. Knowing ebay knows who this person is should there be any issue is something both sides of transaction are aware of.
What happens now that someone on Facebook could purchase a large item for pickup? Should I change my listings?

So, Ebay would require a Facebook Marketplace buyer to have an ebay account before purchasing?

The buyer is directed to eBay. eBay allows buyers to purchase as a guest.

If the sale comes through the new FB marketplace test, it will be handled like any other eBay sale.

I personally don't see any good coming from this new ebay 'idea'.

If you are willing to allow pickup at your home for Ebay sales, this is likely to be no more risk.
I do not allow any internet buyer to pick up anything at my home.
If all goes well, the buyer will be late and impact my activity. If things go poorly, the risks are unbounded.

Shouldn't make any difference.
They see the item on FB, come to Ebay to make the purchase.

They still have to purchase it through eBay. Still I think it's a bad idea as legitimises scammer claims of using eBay to " handle" sales from other sites.

Facebook / Meta is a joke.
If you're selling for pick-up only. You make sure the buyer pays in person. I mean CASH! None of that electronic payment poop that can haunt you in a few days.
If your item is of high value, you can probably schedule a meeting at your local police department or at high visible area that has security cameras and only during daylight.

Exactly, just as someone seeing your ad on Google and coming to eBay to make the purchase.

Makes no difference - Facebook is just the portal. If local pickup through ebay has been working for you, it should continue to work as the buyer would still have an ebay account.

If it is local pickup through eBay a seller must offer at least one electronic payment method for local pickup so saying cash only at pickup doesn't fly.

I always tell em to meet me at the wendys parking lot out back by the dumpster.

Thanks for all the quick replies. I've used pickup at my home for larger pieces over the years and never had an issue. Facebook Marketplace makes me a bit uneasy though, so I'll have to think on this.
Thanks again! Appreciate it

eBay doesn't "know" buyers, there is no vetting procedure, anyone with an email account can sign up any buy.
