I was under the impression that sellers only needed to provide the last 4 digits of their SSN until they started selling a high amount. If that's the case ... you shouldn't have to be concerned about anyone misusing it ... IF you can't get it removed.
They required my FULL SSN. The option of only the last 4 digits came in at a later date. I was forced opted in February of this year. Maybe around May that nice last 4 digit option came into play. I remember people talking about that option around late June/early July...and I thought...son of a gun...ugh...

No because you refunded the person so there is no sale to report. No profit to have been made...

Would I need to do anything or will it all fix out on its own?

What about 365$

The OP said they gave eBay their SSN in July ... so then maybe they did only provide 4 digits.

Unless you live in a state that has a lower threshold than the $20K / 200 transactions, you will not receive a 1099-K.
The law requires payment processors to report the total payment processed on your behalf, not how much money was deposited in your bank account.
A payment that is processed and refunded still counts as a payment that was processed. This is quite clearly spelled out in eBay's help page about the 1099-K:
"As Form 1099-K is an IRS information return, it includes the gross amount of all reportable payment transactions within a calendar year. This amount does not include any adjustments, for example, credits, discounts, fees, refunds, or any other adjustable amounts. This means that the gross amount on your Form 1099-K may not be the final reportable amount on your tax return."

...lucky them...I wish that I had that option but then again if the threshold is 5K this year and $600.00 next year I guess that I would have to give them the full number anyway...
I just hate having such sensitive info in systems that are tied to the internet. eBay, Banks CC companies etc...the less databases it's on better.

So will I recive any 1099k?
09-13-2021 03:06 PM
Or anything on my taxes since I am under the threshold
09-13-2021 03:08 PM
If you could simplify it yes I will recive a 1099k or no I won’t recive anything on my taxes

Ok sounds great I want to clear the info with you though I made one sale in July for 365$ but didn’t want to go through with the sale so I refunded the buyer without shipping it out only sale ever and for the year as well

Will this be your first time filing taxes in America? The reason I ask, and please don't take this as some hostile anti-immigrant thing, is the way you write dollar amounts. Your English is flawless, in fact better grammar, spelling and punctuation than a lot of born-n-raised Americans. But I think if I moved to a country where currency is written with the symbol placed after the numbers I would immediately adopt it, namely when writing about business, taxes, etc. Again, not trying to be snarky, just curious about your background, as it might be important to the topic.

You clearly don't even live IN the U.S. and are just trying to find out how to be the best foreign identity thief scammer you can be. You deleted all but 2 of the 23 posts you have made here, and the other one was the same question, except you said the sale was for $400 (oh, sorry, 400$). Then later in the same post it was 417$. But now that one-and-only sale was for 365$, huh? Also how could you have made the sale in July, when you've only been an Ebay member since August 5th?
I would suggest you find an easier way to make money than using American's SSN's. If you can't even write US dollar amounts correctly and are trying to get your training from a community forum, you are going to get yourself in prison, whatever that is like where you live.
