Once upon a time I was selling two keychains on seperate listings for 9.90 each with free shipping . A buyer came along and offered me 5.50 each buying both of them and I accepted the offers . So I made a total of 11 dollars , then minus the shipping fee of 2.66 with tracking and I came out a very rich woman with 8.34 cents for both keychains yippee !!! . Today the buyer contacted me to say when she went to pick up her order at the post office they charged her 10.45 cents to get the package I sent her . She said the shipping was supposed to be free for her and so she wants me to reimburse her the 10.45 she was charged . I replied that I had already paid the shipping fee of 2.66 out of the 11 dollars she paid me . This is a first for me I swear . If I give her back 10. 45 then this sale actually cost me money . So the only thing I could think to do was to politely ask the buyer to send me a copy of the receipt she paid at the post office to get her order and I will take it to my local post office and ask for an explanation . So far I haven't heard back. The end . Tulips

Absolutely the correct thing to do.
ask for a copy of the receipt so you can contact their post office to see what happened.
odds are you never hear from them again.

I doubt it matters which post office I would call since a 10.45 receipt for a 2 oz 6 inch package probably doesn't exist . 🙂 Tulips

@turquoisetulips if you used any priority packaging they could have bumped it up to priority. Even a piece of used pm cardboard

Don't just give in with a refund. Make her put forth an honest effort to earn it by proving her case. Have her return the merchandise. Send her a return label if you use'em and tell her you'll pay the postage due like she "had" to, if it comes postage due.
Tell her to include the receipt showing: A.) the postage due is shown as postage due and B.) the receipt shows it came from your zip code.
If you do get a negative feed back, think of that as it might not happen if you/we were also allowed to leave negative feed back for buyers rather than the current affirmative-inaction policy

No priority - her order was shipped first class in a regular small package . The shipping fee's are always 2.66 with tracking for it's size and weight USPS . In any case , I'm still waiting on the buyer to provide some proof that she had to pay 10 dollars and 45 cents ,, so we shall see what happens . Tulips

That amount of Postage Due is implausible. Even if it WAS bumped up to Priority, the maximum retail postage for shipping 1 pound via Priority Mail is less than $10.

Someone is clueless, but not sure if it's the PO or you have an inept scammer.

Absolutely I will do that if I hear back from her . IMO she got a pretty good deal because she paid less for two keychains than I was asking for just one , plus free shipping . Tulips ---------

Yeah , that's what bothers me the most about sellers not being able to leave negative feedback. I think other sellers should be allowed a '' heads up '' of sorts on buyers who may come back with a ''story '' without any proof . This particular buyer will be given a chance to provide a receipt , if she doesn't , she will be block from here on. Tulips

Yeah I know , I've shipped hundreds first class of the same weight and size as the one with this buyer . I've never heard of USPS suddenly charging fee's like that or any fees for that matter to my customers after delivery . Tulips -

Just an update . I still haven't heard back from the buyer after I asked her for a receipt for the 10 dollars and 45 cents she claims she had to pay to get her package . In fact I checked the tracking number for this order this morning and her purchase was available for pick up on Feb 15th and it's still at her post office . So the 10.45 she claims I need to reimburse her was never paid by her in the first place . If she leaves negative feedback because I didn't fall for an attempted scam ,, then I will be contacting e bay . Tulips

If she doesn't pick it up, it will eventually be returned to you. Don't refund anything without getting the package back first.

There's a SLIGHT possiblity that she got a pickup notice that included a notation about an amount of Postage Due. Slight..
