SO HERE IS A NEW ONE NO ONE MAY KNOW ABOUT!!!!!!

So I had a buyer say they "made a mistake" in purchasing my item (which is **bleep** but anyway..), they asked for a full refund which I GAVE THEM anyway.... but the item kept appearing on my list to SHIP..... even though I refunded them , it kept popping up like I was supposed to ship it and I couldn't get rid of it......so after 15 minutes with ebay, if you have ALREADY REFUNDED AN ITEM, you can go to the item and click "SHIPPED" .....AND IT WILL DISAPPEAR....... OFF YOUR LIST.....If you try and click "Cancel item" it will give yoiu a red flag message saying its not possible to cancel and it won't remove the item - you have to click the "shipped" link!!!!! ........just a little known thing no one knows about.... I had never seen it before! But it works! AND your performance rating doesn't take a hit because you have already refunded your buyer ........ its just a way to make it go away.......... just trying to help other sellers..... Im sure there are many out there wondering how to make a pesky refunded item go away while it keeps asking you to ship it........ lol.......... Merry Christmas

You realize if you just cancel you will get all your fees back too right?

I use the cancel transaction option as buyer requested.  This refunds properly and credits back my fees.

When a buyer asks to cancel, for whatever reason, always cancel using the "buyer requested" reason.  When you cancel, the refund is automatically given, any selling fees are refunded, the sale will be cancelled and you will be free to relist.   If you refund, then try to cancel, it won't work.

The easier you are to offend the easier you are to control.

no thats not true.......... if you cancel a transaction, it goes against your performance record........ if you drop down in performance you will pay higher fees and they will put you lower in searches ...... thats why I was so worried about my performance rating...... you can't just cancel a transaction....... the buyer messaged me to cancel it, so I got to click on "Buyer asked to cancel" button instead of just cancelling it .... there is a huge difference....... however, even refunding a buyer that way, STILL LEAVES THE ITEM IN YOUR QUE TO SHIP.... it doesn't go away......thats why I called ebay.... once you refund a buyer and they asked for it --- it does NOT go against your seller rating, and you HAVE to click on the "item shipped" button to get rid of it...which actually makes zero sense ........ thats why I posted this..... it makes no sense.......... lol. But clicking "shipped" will get rid of it off your "to ship" list..... and not affect your rating if you already refunded them.... for some reason, even after refunding a buyer, the item will stay there still asking you to ship it......... lol.

even though you do that.... ebay will still leave the item you refunded as "ready to ship" ............... only way to get rid of it is to click "item shipped" ........totally bizarre....... you can't even click "Cancel item" cause it will bring up a red flag saying "you cannot cancel this item its been refunded" ........hahahhahaha...... CRAZY........

The only cancellation that causes a seller to suffer a demerit is an 'Out of stock' cancellation. A seller can cancel citing 'Buyer requested' with no repercussions. And with cancellation, fees are reversed. Trust us.

But thank you for the workaround... sellers that refund without cancelling will find it helpful.

THAT IS CORRECT......... thats what im saying....... if you sell something and 2 hours later a buyer says they changed their mind and wants a refund..... give them the refund....... BUT!!!!!!!! THE ITEM WILL STAY ON YOUR SHIPPING LIST asking you to ship it......... evidently from what the guy I talked to at ebay said, for up to 90 DAYS on your shipping list.........the only way to get rid of it after refunding them is to click "item shipped" ....and it will be removed without harm to your performance seller rating........ its a glitch in ebays system..... thats why I wrote this........

I have been a seller on ebay for 20 yrs.... in two different states..... and I've NEVER seen a refunded item keep appearing in my "items to ship" ......... but even after I refunded them , it kept appearing to ship but said "refunded" but wouldn't go away.........

So I can only imagine if huge volume sellers have 5 or 6 of these hanging out in their "TO SHIP" list, and evidently it takes like 90 days for them to get removed and thats bothersome!

So to get rid of them if you have refunded them , just click "ITEM SHIPPED" ....and it will remove them .... its insane cause you actually never shipped the item, but because you already refunded the buyer, its the only way to get rid of it on your shipping list....... "Cancel item" does not work......  crazy eh? LOLOL..... an ebay glitch....in addition, I need to add that if you have ALREADY REFUNDED a buyer, clicking "ITEM SHIPPED" after the fact doesn't affect your performance rating............ thats what I was worried about......  but it doesn't.

Buyer requested cancellations do not affect your ratings.

@northwestvarietyshoppe

I would imagine that huge volume sellers know (in the situation you describe) to cancel orders and not just issue refunds... they want their selling fees back. Your information is good for an inexperienced seller who has made this mistake and can't clear the 'Awaiting shipment' screen.

So after 20 years you didn’t know to just cancel as buyers request to get your fees back and not have to go through everything even this entire post?  Wow!

"I had a buyer say they "made a mistake" in purchasing my item (which is **bleep** but anyway..)"

You have never made a mistake when purchasing an item online? I certainly have, and when I was an active seller I had plenty of buyers do the same. Its part of being human.

Just happened to me....but I also got a 'ding' for "Tracking Information" (not uploaded at all)...obviously, because it was refunded (by customer request)

I never rule out that I made an error, but I am pretty sure I cancelled the sale first, then refunded the full amount...I found it odd I could not relist it, and that it kept showing up in my awaiting shipment list.....so I just "archived it" to get it out of my view.....

So, watch for the ding on the tracking metric.....they said they can't take it off because it's "in the system"?

Cancelling the sale refunds it automatically, so you would not have to have then refunded it. Always just cancel, don't refund manually.

I have never had any cancelled items hanging out in to ship. But I did once have an item that was multiple months old that had long ago shipped and gotten delivered pop back up in my items to ship list and nothing I could do would make it go away. Thankfully it was only in the app and not on the desktop. After about a month it went away.
