Afternoon Folks,
This is why Ebay is DYING for SMALL Sellers.
If any of you follow my comments you know, from a few posts I made last week, that I made A LOT of purchases recently and mostly from small sellers.
Here is just a few of my experiences from these orders:
1) Purchased a BEAUTIFUL wall lamp to match another for the cabin. Item came loosely packed in an untaped, unsecured box slipped into a thin vinly mailer...no bubble wrap...nothing. Item arrived with package "clunking" and once I opened the flimsy mailer jacket the light is damaged beyond junk.
2) Purchased expensive sandpaper...came in manilla envelope...inside...damp to almost wet pack of paper rewrapped and short on paper with paper almost useless because it is not wet paper...it's for wood...cost a dollar a sheet.
3) Purchased a different pack of paper like above...different grit from different vendor. Not packaged at all, label simply taped over the store jacket that actually allows 30 to 40% of the paper literally exposed. Tape was over the back side and front, sticking to paper.
4) Purchased 10 male end connectors for commericial electrical cording...product was shaking around inside box...opened to find a nice note with 2 extras...for a total of 12...but no packaging...screws loose and product scruffed up from bouncing around in box.
5) Purchased 250' Roll M/C Electrical cable...was delivered by Lowes (didn't order from Lowes). Product well packaged and came quickly.
6) Purchased specialty hinges...bunched together...no protective packaging...stuffed in Flat Rate USPS bubble mailer.
7) Purchased specialty cabinet leg levelers...15 Inside a box...5 laid on top of box...no extra padding or protection slipped in Tyvek USPS envelope with the extra 5 subject to the mercy of the elements and USPS handling.
😎 2 Tires for Mrs C car...supposed to be here today....no tires and still haven't shipped.
9) 5 large packs of sandpaper from different vendor...well packaged in P/Mail box...excellent seller.
10) 2' x 3' MD decorative aluminum panel...shipped from H/Depot...damaged beyond repair...came in over size flat box...unsecured inside resulting in it slicing it's way out of the box.
So...based on discussing the above few items...no wonder folks are prone to be cranky as buyers.
In closing who would:
a) Take all the time necessary to contact each seller to give them a chance to resolve
OR
b) Just Simply open a bunch of SNAD's where applicable

Hi Castle,
Well after escalating the case this morning I received another email from the seller:
Hi there there is no sense in sending back the item I specifically indicated no returns because Im moving to New Zealand . 3m issued me a check for the box you had problems with. Apparently ebay issued you a refund but they are not requesting I refund your money and thats what I agree with . so you get a free box and I get double the money not a bad deal.
I responded back that I had already sent it out in the mail within a few hours of receiving the ebay return label.
He then responds :
Thats a shame It specifically states no returns
Then another:
Ive got three other ebay accounts and over 130,000 customers and not one complaint
Actually I got three times the amount 3m gave me some extra
If you work on cabinets for a living why are you ordering one pack of paper off of ebay .I would think you would have an account set up with 3m or a wood working supply of some kind. The boys and I had a real chuckle over hear about all that . You must not get a lot of business?
My selling history is flawless I have many accounts I also own a multi billion dollar corp. So Im not concerned about your ebay selling and buying .
Some interesting messages I might say...

What, you mean he's not a lawyer??
Multi billion dollar corporation...yeah...uh-huh

if ebay gave you a return label he's either lying about not having to be the one to refund or he just doesn't realize he has to cover it yet...because if it had been a courtesy refund that ebay paid for there would have been no return label

Very interesting, Mr C.
Flawless? Not flawless, you are the living proof!
He doesn't realize that a SNAD (damaged sandpaper, not as described) overrides his no returns policy.
In my case, same thing. Stellar seller feedback for many years which obviously means I should have no problem with whatever she decides to do, change her mind, harass me, abuse me, you get the picture.
My negative feedback that I had removed said, I prowled Ebay looking for victims! "Try to find the Christian in you" (sorry, it is not lost) and "if you can look in the mirror", call Ebay and retract this UNWARRANTED NEGATIVE FEEDBACK. Also, she "rebuked" me for leaving this UNWARRANTED NEGATIVE FEEDBACK.
Sent email demanding feedback retraction until three oclock in the AM.

In that respect, our cases are similar. I had bought the item involved a couple of years ago, but the seller came up OOS. So I was disappointed.
I was really happy and excited to get this one.
I loved the item but was disappointed that it was not as described and had additional, unspecified damage, especially since I waited so long and because the seller had listed a small, insignificant piece of damage in the listing, which made me think that all that was wrong with it.
Seller used the fact that I wanted the item to mean the undisclosed damage did not matter, after she offered options and I chose one, to change her mind and demand a return.
After case was closed in my favor and I posted negative feedback, I had to call CS to remove the neg she posted on me (retaliatory and false), and I received numerous emails, "rebuking" me for leaving UNWARRANTED NEGATIVE FEEDBACK. She sent this in all caps. She told me to "find the Christian in me" (sorry, but it is not lost) and told me, if I can look in the mirror, call CS and remove this unfair, unwarranted neg. It's ironic that she had no problem in changing her mind after offering options and having me chose one.
I told her the negative feedback is warranted and I am not retracting.
I have actually dealt with that exact scenario as a seller-- I sold a doll and when I pulled it to pack it, I touched the shiny fabric bracelet on its arm and part of the shiny coating flaked off, presumably from age as it had been stored carefully in a climate-controlled closet for almost 20 years. I immediately messaged the buyer to apologize and sent them photos of the damage and asked whether they would prefer a refund or to cancel the order. They said they would take a refund, so I refunded them 50% of the purchase price and shipped the item on its way. I was expecting a negative (which would have been fully deserved), so I was quite pleased when they gave me a positive thanking me for my honesty! Yes, sometimes *bleep* happens, but what matters is how we deal with it.

Absolutely! Congratulations on your integrity and for turning it into a positive!
You dealt with it magnificently and were rewarded for it in return!

<<Thats a shame It specifically states no returns>>
That's a shame. It is specifically covered under the MBG.
Wait until he gets the bill for the label and the unresolved case strike ... we'll see how much of a chuckle him and the boys at his "flawless corporation" get out of that.
SMH
These are the same guys that threaten "law suites" all the time LOL

I did reply to the 130,000 customer and owner of a billion dollar busines.
My comment was:

Awesome.
Most billionaires don't talk that way, just saying.
Also, can't they afford a secretary then?
