SLOVEMBER!

Why shouldn't it be possible to earn a living here?  It used to be!  I had no problem selling $500-700 a week on eBay.  Sometimes covering my rent in as little as 10 days.  Even had as much as $2000 in a single day.   Some people are getting 15-20 sales a day for a few hundred $ - some even much better.  If eBay did not make so many ridiculous & nonsensical changes to the site, it could still be that awesome for 1000s & 1000s of sellers.

You can, but you have to be willing to continue to adapt. If something isn't good anymore, stop buying it, stop selling it, get rid of it. I took all my DVDs down a couple days ago after examining the DVD market in relation to another post. I don't need unsold, never going to sell stuff taking up space on my shelves and bogging down my store metrics.  I don't worry about search engine changes. I adapted to the new listing tool.

I am disabled. I work from a wheelchair although I do have an artificial leg I can wear outside the house (I can walk short distance with it, but not really while carrying anything). I can't work with the leg on as the artificial knee sticks out something like 7-8" past my real knee and I can't get things off my shelf, or reach my photo station or really do much anything effectively.

I find things at garage sales and spread the word that I buy collections.  I don't really have any special product sources and I rarely use promoted listings but I also took to heart that price is what sells. I generally post my items cheapest initially and I mark down over time.  Although I do operate with a minimum price point of $1.99, once it gets to that price it can just stay there. Usually if someone comes to ebay to buy a specific thing and I have that thing, then mine sells because it has the lowest price. Lowest price is what sells.

Sales are very measly since SEPTEMBER UPDATES exactly  like last year October 2021 (sales picked up January then slowed May and the. Slowed even more in September). I get sales every 3 days or so and no sales during any holidays or weekend (Ebay business hours are Mon- Thursday hahha)

To the original poster, you absolutely need to diversify. Your entire store seems to consist of items that would be somewhere between free and 25 cents at a garage sale.  Yeah, I know that is a simplistic way of looking at it, but that is what it looks like at first glance to me.

You are also using 3 different shipping prices for comic books and may want to re-examine what you are doing with comics altogether as you have 266 listed and only 4 sold. Most of what you have listed there seems to be quarter bin stuff. I probably own half those books myself from my days of hunting through the quarter bins and I wouldn't consider any of that stuff sellable, hard to move even in lots.

Someone's sales are always slow. These threads go all the way back to the 90s.

I'm starting to come to terms with the fact that many people just don't want to buy obscure, expensive books. I will keep selling books anyway, even though I struggle each month to make ends meet and am accumulating credit card debt,  because it is my passion, and I am lucky enough to have a job that accounts for the majority of my income. I sincerely feel for all those who rely on this for a main source of income. If people are telling you to "get a job," you already have one. It's a lot of work, and it can be extremely thankless if you sell in a category that's non-essential.

Your sales have absolutely nothing to do with eBay's updates and everything to do with what buyers want to buy and what your are selling. Not to mention all of the other factors that go into it such as pricing, return policy, titles etc... Also, the recent updates have actually helped the site, many of the glitches are gone. Every other selling platform is down as well as brick & mortar retailers. This doesn't mean sales have to be slow but if your not selling things that people WANT or items that are not in DEMAND then don't expect to sell $500+ per week.

I as many disagree with you on it. I sell popular items that do sell for bigger seller(as usual).u However due to Ebay messing with accounts, putting accounts through test modes etc etc sales go down without explanation or reasoning.

Also, the recent updates have actually helped the site, many of the glitches are gone.”

In deed  recent changes helped the stockowners at the expense of sellers and buyers.

You seem to sell extremely specific auto parts for older luxury cars. I searched several of them and yours showed up every single time.  Usually on top and you seem to have have decent prices.

However those are all items in search of a customer. Nothing ebay does or doesn't do is going to make that customer who needs a rear cupholder for their 15 year old Audi show up and buy the item until it happens naturally. There are a dozen of those available in the US right now and only one sold in the US in the last 3 months and there are currently 4 sellers who have a comparable unit to yours that are cheaper than you.

@onefootflipper i think we had that conversation some time ago - and seems you want to undermine what I state for some reason.

let me say again. I sell what sells and is in demand for several years. I remove part sel, test self unlike some other sellers. Ebay prefers bigger sellers to ones like me in their algorithms. I sell for couple of years and do know what is in demand.

past 30 days impressions are down by 50% at least and views as well and the only thing that happened is Ebay update. 1A8A60DD-4830-48D5-B6E7-D894BAED8E1E.png

Quick look at what you are selling and I agree with @onefootflipper  for most of their suggestions.  What I see is shipping is killing your sales.  I  would bundle things together.  Give more value for the items you are selling.  Also remember eBay takes their fees off the price of the item + Shipping + Sales tax.  That takes your profit margin way down on those small items.

Good luck.  There's some good suggestions from others on this.

Unfortunately, shipping is expensive for the size and weight of the items.

I am no expert in search algorithms. I assume that most buyers are going to shop the way I do and sort by lowest price first. I assume that anyone smart enough to be able to replace an auto part is going to do the same thing.

If I do that and I want the audi cupholder what do I see, a weird blue one, I pass that one up (no thanks) then several that are seemingly perfect at $24.99 shipped and then yours with a slightly worse photo for a couple dollars more. I think I would buy the $24.99 one. Ebay didn't make me do that, it was the most attractive listing at the best price.
