11 days and 14 days are not 30 days and counting......you are correct we are at the mercy of whatever search is being used by the marketplace we're selling on....I'll wait it out, and see what happens....but it's not normal by any means

I recently lost sales for almost 40 days, including all of June, when sales had been decent before. Then one morning I woke up to three sales to different buyers. That's an exteme "dark" spell, but it does happen. I gave up trying to find out scientifically why, it just happens.

My honest opinion, it could be Algorithms, AI, or even an evil hack........a Iranian group named "Cyber Toufan" have hacked 1,000's of companies related to doing business with Israel......one well known company here in USA is Berkshire E Supply they got hacked big time.....either way I'll wait it out and see what happens

Try a 50% off everything in your store sale. If that doesn't work, increase it to 60% and then 75%. If all else fails have a 90% off going out of business sale.

Well, you can dismiss someone else's similar experience but it's the same situation - inexplicable change. We're still dependent on a complicated search which is continually being changed and overwritten on a site that's overloaded with almost two billion listings. One big reason I'm glad I don't earn my living here any longer.

I never did earn my living here on Ebay, it was always just a supplement to my regular business......nice supplement over the years. but what I've learned in all my years in business is, change is inevitable

Supply and Demand, the Demand is in early year drought. Most answers focused on sales and prices, but maybe you are like me and monitoring eyeballs. It happens in all markets, that's why you don't want to keep lowering price, zero eyeballs will still not buy for zero price. If you are seeing many 'views' without sales, that might be price (and need to reviews comps as was suggested. Not only do people shop for others around the holidays, I think that is often when they splurge on themselves, and hence the January hangover puts the brakes on a lot of commerce. You can gauge supply and demand buy monitor recent sales/frequency and prices. I usually look for last sales to see frequency of sales and sense activity, and nominal market prices at that time. Warning, also against lowering too much, you'll pull in the bargain seekers who seem more likely to be sellers themselves. I used to be okay with this just to move inventory, but they are the biggest PITA for my items at least. I fully test and describe, and all end users know what they are getting and approve, but most times that I just knew someone was looking to flip, they came back with nonsense. Don't race to the bottom.

Nope, not correct. It does happen. Been watching Bud Light? Overnight you can lose your sales.
Since you seem to be a numbers guy, looking at all the data, did you know eBay no longer promotes your items to Google? You have to pay for that. Not promoting at all? Likely you are not being seen. There are lots of reasons beyond what I just mentioned, that COULD cause you to lose your traffic. Things change, and if you don't change too, you are left in the dust. Such as now, like you are complaining about. It's not eBay's job to get you sales, or even traffic.
Instead of pointing fingers and complaining, one would think you would be doing SOMETHING to get sales, if you are concerned with it. If you are doing everything possible, then maybe it's your sign your business no longer is viable. Blaming all your problems on eBay isn't getting you a single sale more.

Good eye, yes there are buyers and flippers on Ebay.....I've done it myself.....it's easy if you're an expert in the field you're buying and flipping. you catch the novice not knowing the value of what they are selling. and yes you are correct to say "Don't race to the bottom"........I always say "Don't confuse activity with profits"
01-22-2024 09:04 PM
Everything Ebay does is profit driven, as you stated Ebay is no longer promoting items on Google for free. and as I stated I believe algorithms/AI being used to maximize revenue for Ebay. If that means a seller paying extra fees for exposure/eyes adds to the bottom line of Ebay's revenue....guess who gets puts on the bottom of the list ?.....I understand the game, if that is the game being played......but only Ebay knows/control the rules to the game, and they're not telling.

For what it's worth our sales have dropped like a rock over the past week and you're correct

Something is wrong with Ebay, can't believe this is planned change in their selling platform

From what I can see and mind you I've not used any of my search engine tools but you're items are showing up in Google search but not so much under the shopping search engine. Make sure put Manufacturer first in your single line description, same in the item full description, then part number(s), whatever other info used as search criteria such as "Carbide" and put quantity at the very end.
All of your listing IMHO need be redone. I think you're loosing external commerce search engines. Get rid of all the "..." and use bullet points aka:
Kennametal NG4219R KC810 Carbide Coated Top Notch Grooving (5 Pcs/New)
In the full description same as a title:
Kennametal NG4219R KC810 Carbide Coated Top Notch Grooving (5 Pcs/New)

Of additional note, I'd literally re-do every item from scratch. At the end of you're listings is a small banner and link to eBay Turbo Lister which no longer exists. However, when a search engine spiders that it now redirects to eBay's home page instead of what was the Turbo Lister page. That is not commerce search engine friendly such as Google Shopping etc when spidered. External commerce search engine spiders will often reject pages with redirects for obvious reasons, they can mislead the web surfer for any number of reasons. So the spider comes in and there are the links to turbo lister, when it tries follow those links the page no longer exists and eBay redirect to the eBay home page.
