If you check restrictions, it clearly states that coins and paper money will not be allowed.
However the latest email from eBay on coins and paper money, says you have to add item specifics year and denomination to your listing.
Are we going to be allowed to list coins and paper money or not???

"If you check restrictions, it clearly states that coins and paper money will not be allowed."
For a change in policy, it would be great if ebay posted information about this on their page;
https://community.ebay.com/t5/Announcements/bg-p/Announcements
or change their policy pages.
I sell silver coins and somehow "the" email missed me, never yet "invited" to managed payments which is fine, and the ebay policy pages restricting these items from managed payments remains unchanged, so it's clear as mud to me!
Waiting for ebay's official announcement....

My understanding is that the changes are being put in place and Managed Payment sellers WILL be able to offer coins.
I don't sell coins, didn't receive the email but the change is obviously imminent and in time the Help Pages will be updated to reflect this.

there has been topics started that such may be able to be sold after the 25th.
No announcements to this effect yet and the restricted with MP still holds.
Time will tell.
Note : you might ask on the weekly chat with ebay employees and see what they say if anything.

Did you actually read the email? All of it? This part of it?
"Sellers in the Coins & Paper Money and Bullion categories will be enabled for managed payments
Starting January 13, 2021, sellers in the Coins & Paper Money categories, including Bullion, will be notified to register or will be activated for managed payments if you’ve already pre-registered. Sellers that are already activated on managed payments may create listings in these categories beginning January 25."

I HAVE BEEN AN EBAYER FOR 25 YEARS. Professional estate appraiser and buy product to sell on ebay purchased large coin collection and posted and I cant post my coin collection, because I changed my payment method as advised by ebay last month. Now I cant sell coins. Was told to set a new ebay account and just paypal. This dosn't make since. Someone clue me in what the hell is going on. Very frustrated

I switched to managed payments (something I already regret) and found the same restrictions on selling coins and currency. Yet there are still scads of listings. Are all the sellers not on managed payments, or is there some way around the restriction?

Yes. Accounts having a majority of listings for coins and/or paper money are just now being transitioned into Managed Payments, as discussed in several posts upthread.

Even if there were (and there isn't), members would not be allowed to describe to you how to do it, since that would be a violation of the community's Rules of Engagement.

It's interesting that ebay won't allow coins and currency sold under MP, stating it's due to Adyen the payment processor. Etsy also uses Adyen exclusively, yet that category is available there!

This is changing very soon. As @pburn described above, on January 25th they will be allowed in MP. There will be a couple fields that are mandatory but they should be flagged for everyone.

It's really interesting to read the comments in this thread. I inherited a modest US coin collection last year and have sold, I think, about six proof sets and two or three individual silver dollars. (Well, one of those proof sets has been in USPS "custody" since its sale approximately one month ago. But that's a different story . . . .)
And so, I got The Message a few days ago about new item specific details being required for future coin listings, and that I would be required to enroll (is that the right word?) into Managed Payments. None of that, as I read and think I understood it, really creates any problem for me in trying to sell a few other dollar coins.
But the other comments I have read here and in past threads about selling coins (or trying to) here in 2021 just completely confuse me. If The Message was supposed to have been sent to sellers with a majority of listings and/or sales in the Coins category -- that's not me. Did eBay just look simply at the number of Coin listings, regardless of how many sewing patterns or embroidery kits or Joan Rivers Jewelry I have listed and sold?
I guess all I can do is read what eBay sends me and observe whether any future listings of my coins are problem-free. Apparently I should get more info from eBay next week about Managed Payments. And the new item-specifics go into effect on January 20 (if my memory is right about what The Message said). That is also OK with me as I have decided not to list anything else until after January 20 for other reasons.

January 25th is when the coin and paper money listings are allowed for those in MP.

Any recent information that I have seen is from the most recent community chat where it was said that;
"...they have confirmed that members will not be activated in managed payments before the date when they can actually list items within the category."
and,
"Already activated sellers (as an example, a primarily clothing seller who occasionally lists coins) would follow the same rule: they would not be able to list coins within payments until at least that date. "
I'm still waiting for an official ebay announcement on this and changes to ebay's policy pages.

Right now they are just sending emails to sellers this may affect from what their history shows or something. We have asked for an announcement on this subject via the Weekly Chat and they are passing that along to the appropriate team.

I have ebay managed payments as of about a month ago and just tried to post the sale of a collectible dollar bill - the first currency I've ever attempted to post. Ebay is saying it's not allowed. Is that still the case? From reading this thread, I would have surmised that after the 25th, I should be able to post in this category - or is there somewhere I need to register to be able to sell currency?
