Returned to sender

An item I sold was returned to me because the address for the order didn’t exist. The buyer messaged me saying that it was the wrong address and told me which one to send it to. Do I have to do that? Or can I refund the order? If I refund it, will that hurt my eBay account or could that buyer leave negative feedback?

Re: Returned to sender

You sent it to the address on the label.  Not your fault, it's the buyer's fault.

You can...

A) Refund the seller (less shipping)

B) Have the seller pay you another shipping charge and re-ship it

Why should you take a loss for the buyers mistake?

Re: Returned to sender

As long as you shipped to the address the buyer provided to eBay, you should be able to cancel it for problem with buyers address with no problems.

Under no circumstances do you want to send it to another address. Unless, of course, you eventually wish to end up with no product and no payment. In that case, go ahead and have at it!

Re: Returned to sender

You will not get a  EBAY penalty if you "cancel order" (using reason bad shipping address).   Customer can leave negative feedback.

Tell customer (you are NOT allowed to change shipping address for them) this against EBAY policy.    Ask customer to correct their shipping address shown on their PayPal account and other credit cards that they use (that's where shipping address is pulled from).

Relist item and ask customer to purchase again (using correct address).

I suppose seller can also tell buyer to file an item not received claim and see how that works out.
