Did you mean:

Returned to customer

Hi, I am from Belarus and I want to buy a board game for the English Speaking Club I am running. I found one and actually paid for it. However in some time I found a following message in the tracking details - 'Returned to customer'. What does it mean? I texted the seller but no feedback from then yet.

Re: Returned to customer

Are you sure it stated" Returned to customer"?

OR

Does it state " Returned to shipper/ seller"?

Did you pay postage cost to seller or was postage through GSP ( eBay's global shipping programme) ?

It may be that postal service in your region is disrupted due to ongoing operations in Ukraine  and right now seller may not have any information to share.

Your purchase order will have an expected delivery date and if your item does not reach you say 2 days past this expected delivery date and tracking details/ status has not changed then simply open an Item not received case through your purchase order and this will trigger a date by which seller must show / provide evidence that item has been DELIVERED and at the expiry of this date you can escalate the return case and this should result in you getting your money back.

eBay has excellent money back guarantee / protection for buyers and please spend a little time in reading this and follow recommendations.

Good luck.

Re: Returned to customer

My guess would be that it could not be delivered to Belarus because of the current conflict in Ukraine.

FedEx, UPS, and DHL suspended delivery to Russia, Belarus, and Ukraine some time ago.  The United States Postal Service is trying to deliver but has said that delivery may "experience interruptions or be unavailable depending upon circumstances on the ground."  It's a day-by-day and case-by-case situation with USPS.

I'm sorry about your not being able to get your game.  That's a delightful, and very good way, to help learn a language.  I pray for peace and a return to normal life for everyone in your part of the world.

Re: Returned to customer

You didn't provide a lot of information to work with but there are a couple of possibilities depending on how it shipped.

You stated you are from Belarus. Are you actually in Belarus or in the US or some other country? If you are in Belarus USPS has restricted all shipments to Belarus. The shipper is USPS's customer so the return to customer may refer to the item being returned to the seller. What does the total tracking look like?

If you are in the US but your eBay registered address is in Russia the attempted charge to your CC may have not gone through because of the current sanctions against the Russian Federation.

You are protected by the eBay MBG so you are free to file an INR case one day after the eBay projected delivery date.

Re: Returned to customer

Thanks for your feedback first of all. Should it be the seller or shipper, It would be clear, however it's the word customer that makes things confusing. Most probably they mean the customer of ebay. Should the good be really back at seller's and my money back too, I could find and address in Poland instead then.

Re: Returned to customer

Noted that tracking shows " Returned to customer"

At present you and seller are not  in control and it looks like postal service in your region is disrupted due to ongoing operations in Ukraine  and  postal service provider has decided not to proceed with this shipment to Belarus.

In my opinion your only option is to wait till you are past expected delivery date and if  tracking details/ status has not changed then simply open an Item not received case through your purchase order and this will trigger a date by which seller must show / provide evidence that item has been DELIVERED and at the expiry of this date you can escalate the return case and this should result in you getting your money back.

Your seller appears to have done everything that was expected of them .

Good luck.

Agree that USPS could be a bit more clear but they are actually talking about the USPS customer, aka the seller, not the eBay customer. While eBay likes to think it is part of the logistical system for the most part they have nothing to do with it. Fro the tracking you provided it is clear that the item never got past the first USPS center simply because USPS cannot deliver to Belarus at this time and so they returned the item to the customer, aka the seller.

If you can find an address in Poland you can have the item shipped to you need to get in touch with the seller and have them cancel the initial sale as a problem with your shipping address. As them to repost it and change your shipping address in eBay either before or when you make the purchase so it ships to that address.

Re: Returned to customer

I assume ":the customer" would be the shipper/seller.

Why it was returned to the seller, who knows? Only the seller knows.

Hopefully they will eventually answer you.

The good news is if you don't receive it, you should be covered by ebay's MBG (money back guarantee).

It was returned to the customer because USPS has suspended shipments to Belarus.

Re: Returned to customer

It is because Belarus and Russia invaded Ukraine and committed atrocities. Ask your President.
